At the farm, we have an 82 hectare property with a small fruit farm (haskap, aronia and seabuckthorn), forest and pasture for my retired horses. The farm is located 18 km from the village of Wakefield Quebec. We are working towards organic certification and therefore pesticide and herbicide free. The orchard is newly established and just starting to produce fruit. We are experimenting with the cultivation of medicinal root vegetables. A small vegetable plot feeds us and is used to sell at our farm stand.
Three horses live in the pasture and three dogs live in the house. Only 45 minutes from Ottawa, yet the wildlife here is extraordinary!
I have experience as a teacher and could help a Workaway with her/his English or French. Workaways can learn organic practices and discover what is involved in running a small farm.
We will need help with the harvest of haskap end of June early July. We also have a small vegetable plot which needs tending all summer and we could also use help building a shed and fixing the fences. Farm work is physical and repetitive.

The house is a renovated 1867 farm house. A private bedroom is provided, the bathroom is shared. Breakfast and lunch are self-serve, supper can be prepared and eaten together. The house is not always spotless.
The village of Wakefield, located 18 km away, offers various summer activities and the city of Ottawa, located 50km away offers many tourist sites, museums, restaurants and movie theatres.
