Welcome to the interior of Fiji!
My village is situated in the Namosi Province
in the Highlands of Fiji's main island Viti Levu. With no electricity no internet and no phone connection.
We leave off the land, fishing in river's and just enjoying nature at it best.
Come visit our home and experience the heart of Fiji! We run an unplugged retreat where our guests getaway from their comfortable homes and offices to get back to the very basic of living. Bures are traditional houses being built from natural plants to accommodate our guests with.
Help with Eco project
As a helper you will receive 3 hearty meals a day as well as afternoon tea. Helpers are served home grown, chemical-free Fijian foods especially root crops and vegetables that are provided by local farmers each day, plus fresh fish, and prawns from the river whenever possible. Helpers are welcome to help harvest and cook the foods in the authentic way. Helpers will learn about all different varieties of Fijian foods, how you plant, harvest and cook it aswell. You will also learn our traditional living off the land fishing in the river's, fo on mountain hiking , learn to build bamboo rafts and also raft it, visit the nearby villages. You will also learn all medicinal plants.
We definitely want to learn how you also do farming in your country and all farming methods. Also we want to learn your tradition and culture.
We are looking for helpers who can help us a range of projects around the eco retreat.
Carpenters or Handymen and women who can help with replacing the bure (hut) roofs and renovations
Gardeners to help take care of our crops and plantation
We are also seeking anyone who can help build a bridge to cross our river.
Accommodation will be in one of the authentic bures, shared bathroom
In your spare time there is no also shortage of activities including mountain hiking, horseriding, bili bili (river raft) making and rafting, weaving and craft making, bird watching, and farming (you can even help harvest food for dinner that night!). Enjoy kava and Talanoa sessions (storytelling) with the locals or learn to create Fijian dishes to impress back home.
We are surrounded by local villages with energetic children wanting to play volleyball, soccer or touch football.
