WE ARE LOOKING FOR 2 PEOPLE TO HELP FROM 7-25TH MARCH.
We are a couple with two boys living in a beautiful rural location in Herefordshire. Our smallholding includes wild flower meadows, ancient woodland, an orchard, a stream, 2 dogs, a cat, poultry, a holiday cottage and some stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
We are looking for help maintaining the land, gardens and buildings. The cottage is the original farmhouse, it is very comfortable and cosy.

Volunteers would experience a warm and friendly family life in rural Herefordshire. They would work in beautiful peaceful surroundings and learn about various aspects of organic gardening and land management. There may be opportunities to learn about woodwork and yurt building too.
Volunteers could practice their English and ask about anything they are interested in.
Most of the work will be outside on the land: weeding, mowing, bramble clearing, processing firewood or clearing out the chicken hut.
We like to do the bulk of the work in the mornings. Volunteers would require suitable outdoor clothing.
The cottage is our holiday cottage, it is the original farmhouse, we live in the converted barn. It has plenty of room, two sitting rooms, a kitchen and eating area, bathroom, a double bed or two singles (en-suite off the double room) and a private BBQ terrace with fantastic views. You can also walk (15 min) to the very good local pub by the stream.
We accept either 2 friends travelling together or a couple.
We generally all eat lunch together in our barn, sometimes we will cook supper. The food is provided for you to cater for your own breakfast and dinner in the cottage.
There is a lot to explore in the area. Hay-on-Wye (25 minute drive) is our local town, it's a picturesque town on the river Wye, famous for it's book shops. Hereford and Abergavenny are about 30 min drive, both have train stations. There are also plenty of wonderful walks to do from the doorstep.
Please note that we live in a very rural area, there is one bus a week from our village, so volunteers would really benefit from having their own car. There are many amazing places to visit near us and having your own car would give you plenty of freedom.
