Our organically certified farm is situated in the beautiful Lorne valley NSW,, about 12 mins from Kendall, 35 mins from Port Macquarie and 25 mins from the beach. We can pick up our volunteers from Kendall Railway Station (on the main line between Sydney and Brisbane).
We mainly grow radish, Winter melon, pumpkin, garlic, chokos, dragon fruit and bamboo shoots for sale at the Sydney markets. We have also established mixed orchards of tropical & subtropical fruit (including avocadoes, mangoes and lychees), citrus, nuts and stone fruits, as well as vegetable & herb gardens. We also have guinea fowl and 3 breeds of poultry - Barnevelders, Australorps and Silkies.
We try to make all of our helpers feel welcome on our farm. Volunteers will be able to practise speaking English and maybe teach us a few words in another language, learn about organic farming, tasty vegetarian meals and experience the Australian life.
Help will generally involve the general care, harvesting and packing of the crops.
We can provide accomodation for up to 8 people in a separate, spacious guest house with 3 bedrooms (one with queen-sized water bed), spacious loft, kitchen and living room complete with wood fire, bathroom and separate WC.
You will have access to WIFI, an extensive library to choose from, if you like reading, making jigsaws, playing board games, etc in your spare time, and a TV/DVD player with a selection of DVDs in both guest house and main house. Two bicycles are also available for exploring the surrounding area. There are buses each day from Kendall to Port Macquarie via a number of beaches.
