    Description

We have some space in the upper appartment left, which I find would be great to offer to travellers. I'd have loved to travel by helping others, but I didn't!
The house consumes a lot of our time and we'd like to reduce the time spend on the house.

Location: supermarket, restaurants and a small library, sport arenas like soccer and other stuff within 5 Min. walking distance.
With Public transport: 10 minutes by bus to Markgröningen; 36 minutes to Ludwigsburg; 52 minutes to Stuttgart downtown; busses go every 30 minutes and are on time
30 minutes driving by car to Stuttgart downtown. I work on the other side of Stuttgart in Vaihingen (= South of Stuttgart), so I can give you early rides as well. (=40 min)
If you arrive in the evening / afternoon at Stuttgart Airport I could pick you up, as it is like 10 min. from my work.

This area has a rather wide range of possible spare time activities! What would you like to do?
    + Sports
+ Party area in Stuttgart called “Bermuda Triangle” by some locals
+ Culture – there is multitude of museums, small and big castles in relatively short distance, old houses everywhere, getting to know new people,
+ Action Stuff like Paint Ball, Laser Tag, ...

Hiking in the pure nature is easy and great, as we have strong landscape protection programs in our area. I personally have 3 favorite routes:
    1. walking downstream alongside the river. It takes 10 minutes to leave the suburb. Walking to Bietigheim through the river valley means 45 min. pure nature.
    2. walking upstream alongside a small creek. It takes 5 minutes to leave the suburb in this direction. Walking to Markgröningen downtown through the creek valley means 1 hour pure nature.
    3. Walking uphill to Markgröningen crossing agricultural fields and grassland with fruit trees as well as forests.

You could borrow one of our bicycles, to explore the area. There are nice routes through forests and next to the river available. Using the bicycle to go 4.5 km to get the subway of Ludwigsburg and Stuttgart is as good as using the buses.

We’ll help you to figure out how to get around …

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Germany is full of cultural stuff and due to the close proximity and the excelent public transport, it's easy to visit a wide range of stuff.
What would you like to see?

    For example:
Our suburb was part of a line of defence. So there are 3 small walk-in bunkers in the forest dating back to the time in between WW1 and WW2. The area had around 70 bunkers, an airport, a construction of an underground airplane production. There is a tank trap available within short walking distance.
The worst was here as well – a small concentration camp majorly with prisoners of war.

    There is multitude of museums

Several small and big castles in relatively short distance (20 min. driving)

Old houses dating back to 18xx are everywhere - like two mills.

Recommended Links - don't show here so:
Wikitravel: Stuttgart (English is probably the best page)
Wikitravel: Ludwigsburg (English is probably the best page)
Wikipedia: Markgröningen (the German Wikipedia is signifancly more informative by just looking at the pictures)

All these locations are well connected by the same public transport system.

I think interacting with other cultures always helps to gain understanding.
We speak English or German, depending on your preference. What would you like to learn?

  • Help

    Help

There are some projects around the house (Painting, flooring, ...)
Some work needs to be done in the garden as well.
We have a continuously changing list of tasks and we'd love to have you help us here. We'll also match the tasks depending on your skillset.

We struggle with our work-life balance, as we have a big house and too much work due to major changes renovating the house. (most local skilled craftsmen are totally booked out and require too much time to coordinate them)
Please let us know, if you have skills in different areas of expertise! We might have use for these skills as well! We regard it as our task to match skills with tasks at hand. We'll rearrange so that the right tasks could be covered by you - a suitable helper.

    Accommodation

We're living in 2 apartments and have some room in the upper apartment available, which you could use. The separate bathroom on this floor is almost only for you. You’ll get simple but good furniture, once you volunteer to help and stay.
There is a balcony available on this floor, which you could appreciate during the warmer seasons.

Firstly you'll get your own fridge and you can go shopping with us to get what you like and need. Lunch and dinner might be together - you'll usually get one warm lunch (sometimes warm dinner).
Either you'll cook or we'll cook. We're kind of flexible with food.

    WIFI: we can arrange for a connection to our WIFI (25 Mbit);

Sorry, but I need to add this as the average message has extremely little content & information. Please answer my questions with your profile or in your message, to show that you read our details:
    1. What is your profession? What did & do you do for a living?
    2. Which skills and experiences do you have for hands-on work around the house / construction work (eg. plumbing, electrical,...) / gardening / ...? How do you would you like to contribute?
    3. Which soft-skills do you have, which make you a good choice? How did you prove these in the past?

    your VISA:
We received several requests to provide a letter of invitation for a guests VISA application. However this letter of invitation is not just a simple letter, it requires us to back-up VISA applicants financially in case of any issues (like health issues, flight issues, …).
Furthermore we need to pay money for this letter, go to the embassy in person and prove 15.000 € savings plus a continuous income.
The involved risk is significantly too high, so we can’t provide a letter of invitation.
However VISA applicants don’t need this invitation letter, if they can prove a sufficient amount of money on their bank account. One potential worker shared that he needed to prove 30 days x 70 €/day = 2100 €.
If you have this amount of money, your VISA application should work smoothly without our involvement!
