    Description

I have a privately owned sled dog kennel (hobby) in North Idaho of Alaskan Huskies that competes in races around the Northwest. Come and learn kennel management, enjoy North Idaho with a 4 legged friend, have an opportunity to drive a sled dog team in trainings or in a race, and have time to explore North Idaho. Travel opportunity with races around the northwest.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Can you believe that getting to know a musher or two has a culture of its own? Mushers are animal people and the dogs are their number one focus. Traveling to races and meeting other mushers will expose you to a group of people that love the outdoors and animals.

    Help

We are looking for someone who can help train the dogs by spending one on one time with them, help harness train and line up before a run, ride along on the run. Feeding and daily care will be included which includes learning feeding needs, water care, clean up of poo (which is pretty minor actually).

Help inspecting gear like harnesses, ganglines and can learn to make everything gear related to sleddogs. Learn to drive a UTV, ATV and snowmobile for trail grooming. Our dogs love attention and enjoying a few dog kisses on occasion and dog hair on your clothes is a must! Anyone that loves animals and not afraid to get dirty can handle helping here. You will be trained on everything.

    Accommodation

We are a private kennel located in Rural North Idaho on 10 acres bordering state land. There will be a room available to our helpers and a bathroom for your use. We look to promote having two helpers that will not have to share this space with others. Our home is your home, our room is in our home. Food is covered with your stay. We love the good of’ home cooked meals and are open to any foods our helpers enjoy as well. We are 10 minutes from the nearest town with a grocery store. There is a lake just as close.
