    Description

Hi travellers, We are a family of 4 with animals in the countryside. We always appreciate a bit of help around the place. In exchange for your wonderful help many opportunitys for you and us to learn from each other , experience beautiful things, learn new skills, laugh , tell story's , eat well, have adventures and grow.
We would prefer a single person at this stage until we are better set up for a couple.
We have a beautiful 6.5 acre property in Ligar bay just a short walk to the beach and 15mins drive into Takaka.
We are a family of 4 consisting of myself Graham, Katy my wife and children Tarn (8) Willow (5) and our dog Kye
We have been living off grid on our property for a couple years while we build our home , we moved into the house over christmas and need help with loads of things from helping out with the kids , chopping fire wood, general cleaning and organising, gardening and maintenance. I currently work away in Nelson a lot of the time sometimes for 2-3 weeks at a time so having some one who can help out with the day to day stuff would be great.
We are unschooling home schooling our children which is our main focus, to have some one who can come into our family and connect with our children is a must, if you can teach them things about your life, culture, language, arts it would be an amazing experience and muchly appreciated.
Accomodation is in our house with us, its warm, cozy and you can have your own space, granted its in the rumpus room/ school room but its huge and we have a seperated area for you to have you own space and privacy.
currently we have no internet connected and cell phone reception is poor at best. we are currently working on getting this sorted so we may have it up and running all ready.
Food wise , we tend to eat pritty healthy and soucre loccally grown produce when we can. we have our own chickens for eggs and meat, we fish and hunt for meat. currently in the process of setting up a vege garden so i imagine this will be high on the list.
The beach is not far away its just a 5 min walk
We go into town for schooling a few times a week so if you do not have your own transport there are lots of oportunitys there to get out and about.
    We love to go fishing
Hunting from time to time allthough im not that great at it i do love to try even if it is just getting out for a wee walk.
Sailing, we have a wee 6 meter sail bout down at the warf and a smaller boat down at the beach for the kids to learn on. Sunday sailing when i can if your keen.

So many opportunitys for you and us to learn from each other , experience beautiful things, laugh , tell story's , eat well and grow.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Good to have a car, but if not we can pick you up or drop you off in Takaka or nelson depending if im working and time frames ect.
Plenty of beautiful tramps available within the area:
The Heaphy Track in the Kahurangi National Park, is one of New Zealand’s great walking tracks where you can experience some of the best scenery in the country. The cob damn and so much more.

Wharariki Beach wild and beautiful – wind and waves have created massive rock and sand dune formations. The caves, islands, and arches, where seals breed, are among the most dramatic in the country.

Abel Tasman National Park famous for its golden beaches, granite cliffs, and coastal track, it is a wonderful place to visit, explore, kayak and sail any time of the year.

Farewell Spit is a nature reserve on a sand spit jutting into the Tasman Sea. You can walk on the base of the spit, and there are excellent 4WD (four-wheel drive) safaris (based in Collingwood) along to the lighthouse and bird habitats.

Te Waikoropupu (Pupu) Springs near Takaka are known for the clarity of the water and are New Zealand’s largest freshwater springs and a ‘wahi tapu’ (scared place) to the local Maori.
