    IMPORTANT: Please only apply if you are able to make to work with us in MARCH 2020.

    Help us run our Women Empowerment program for women and children refugee in Kuala Lumpur. We provide artisanal classes, education, vocational skills training and counseling to refugee women at high risk. We work closely with UNHCR in Malaysia to empower these women through livelihood education and job placements for the women.

    We urgently need someone who knows how to take photos and videos and will give priority to those who are able to do so.

    On certain occasion or daily routine also includes:-
    1) meetings with other NGOs in Malaysia
    2) meetings at UNHCR Malaysia
    3) manning booth and market place to sell artisan crafts for our refugee
    4) taking the refugee children out for a day activity

    It would be best for you to let us know which area you want to cover more:-

    1) Field work (visiting refugees centres and assisiting with classes) - this would be best for those who have some experience in artisanal crafts, sewing skills , have taught English or have experience with working with women at risk
    2) Marketing assistant - You will assist us with coming up with events, manning our market place bazaars and booth on weekends, fundraising and meetings with UNHCR and traveling outside of Malaysia (all expenses will be paid if selected to travel)

    Compensation:
    Accommodation: We will book a hostel for your stay with us
    Daily expenses: RM20 per day

    The most important get away we can offer for our travelers is being able to give back to the local community and giving back is the best gift in the world. Being able to touch someone's heart, especially the refugee's, who is going through so much hardship is a priceless experience. Join us to develop a strong team to better serve the refugee community in Malaysia.

    Women empowerment assistant
    Help us build a program to empower refugee women living in Kuala Lumpur. We help women build their lives through vocational skills and education; these may include classes conducted at our center or refugee community centers around Kuala Lumpur, the vibrant capital city of Malaysia. Help us with social media, web site content building, managing the center, liaise with the leaders of each refugee communities and basic admin work.

    First priority

    Teachers
    We teach English, arts and crafts and cultural studies to refugee children around Kuala Lumpur and in our center. You will be our assistant teacher to our primary teacher. Alternatively, if you have a skill set that you want to share with the women and us - do share with us and we can arrange a class for you.

    Artisans
    If you know basic sewing skills, quilting, weaving, fabric manipulation - we would love to work with you to build a collection for each women refugee community. We currently work with three women refugee community in Kuala Lumpur, supported by UNHCR on livelihood projects.

    Project coordinator
    This person will have to stay with us for a minimum of 2 months. We might be able to sponsor a small fee for salary for this.

    We currently only accept women volunteers as we are an all women and children shelter, this is a sign of respect for the women in our center to feel comfortable and at ease in the center.

    However, we do have an exception of accepting male volunteers if you have photography and video editing skills.
