  • Description

I am passionate about locally grown produce and sustainability with lots of knowledge in the area. I have some small properties in Portugal that can benefit from gardening, ecological, general maintenance and potentially eco-building work.

The area is traditional and on the edge of a national park. There are many walking paths and bike trails. The area is mostly famous for its caves (there are literally kilometres of these, although only a small portion has been explored). With the work, knowledge around sustainability and organic gardening can be conveyed.

Time permitting, assistance with travel to other areas of interests (there are several UNESCO heritage sites nearby) can be given.

The area is beautiful to walk around - with natural waterfalls, hiking trails, miles of olive and pine countryside, and places to swim.

  • Help

Help is needed to maintain and develop the garden areas, which have vegetables, nut trees and fruit trees. This involves some weeding, pruning, sowing and harvesting. Also some help is needed for building and decoration, with a focus on painting, bricklaying, carpentry and internal fitting (if you have those skills). Other assistance is open to people who are interested in art (painting) and woodwork.

  • Accommodation

Private room in house, which you will reside in by yourself. The accommodation is near the centre of the village and there are many amenities nearby. In total the land comprises three houses, one of which is undergoing restoration, and there are two plots with fruit trees.

In warmer months a tent can be provided and there is also space downstairs.

The garden provides a range of organic produce which you can collect yourself. Healthy staples like bread, rice and pasta can be provided.

There is the possibility to visit local cafes and attractions in the town or to discover the national park, which holds surprises even for people living here for years. Closeby is the international pilgrimage site of Fatima, with link-paths to the Camino de Santiago.
