    Description

Hey there, we are Julia, Felix and Daniel, three German artists in their late 20s who, three years ago, bought an old rural house with land on the beautiful coast of Galicia. Julia is a painter, Felix and Daniel write Screenplays.
We own a property of ½ hectar of land which we cultivate to increase biodiversity, following the principles of permaculture and syntropic agriculture. There are three buildings on our property: The old main house, an attached smaller house and a ruin. All three need lots of care and renovation, though we don’t want to lose the old feel of these houses and keep most of the spirit. We see our endeavor here as a way to also explore older ways of living and cultural techniques, which we mostly learn from our beloved neighbors.
Our place is part of an aldea with in total around 15 houses of which 6 are permanently inhabited by lovely old galician folks. So it can be very quiet in this village but also sometimes noisy when someone is cutting down a tree or using the tractor.
We try to reach some sort of autonomy with being as minimally invasive as possible to the earth and nature surrounding us, for which a lot of handy work is essential (as we don’t spray, nor want to use heavy machinery too much). But as a reward for all that work, we eat mostly from the best-tasting vegetables and potatoes from our big garden (as we don’t eat meat, so meals will be vegetarian or vegan).

We also own some bees for our own honey, which can sometimes sting and a cat who might come to cuddle, so if you are allergic to bees or cats, keep that in mind.
We live 15km from the nearest beach and the next bigger city, Viveiro. It can be reached by walking in around 1,5 hours or bike or car or scooter. Though we live on a hill and to come back from Viveiro to our house you need to have the 270 meter above sea level in mind, so either you are very fit or use a motorized vehicle ;).
The next supermarket (Gadis) is around 10km away from this village. In Bravos, which is on the other side of the hill to our West, there are bars and cafés and the Foundry – a sort of center for cultural-exchange and a lovely community of great people from all over the world that are very welcoming to whoever stops by.

    What we need:
We need helping hands for our garden, our perma-cultivated lands, planting new lines for the food forest we are creating following syntropical principles. We need help with the renovating of our houses in all kinds of ways, plastering and pointing walls, building foundations, building new floors and staircases. We have a workshop and there is always carpentry that has to be done. When the time of year comes, we also need help for harvesting and processing the harvest. We are also changing each of our fincas for which we always appreciate help as well. Some we want to turn into herb-gardens, others into a vineyard, some into smaller forests, orchards, a rose-garden etc. You will be part of a huge transformation process we have started, that can be challenging at times, but is also super rewarding, because the changes we make are still so big, that you can see every hour of work that you put into this place.

We work remote and freelance and our work requires a lot of creative energy and space. Over the past three years we have realized, that even when friends visit us, we need to have some common ground on how we co-live in this place. It is a big place with lots of room and you will have your own house and kitchen, but that doesn’t mean you won’t be interacting with us, of course.
We usually work from 9:00 to 14:00 (Julia works a bit longer painting), which would be the time you work on a project by yourself, with instructions of course. So some level of independence would be required and a drivers license also, so you can independently do what you feel like doing, without being too dependent on us. We will have lunch together, where we can talk about what each of us wants to do that day and in the evening we usually get together again for dinner.

We are vegetarians, so our meals don’t contain meat and we would ask for that to be respected.
We are excited to get to know people with open minds and an interest in art, different cultures, movies, music, literature… So we can have nice talks under the lemon trees, watch some movies, listen to records.
There are lots of beaches around, nice trails to hike, tons of boulders for bouldering (or just to look at), cafes, bars… You have a record player in your apartment with WIFI, a kitchen, whatever you need. It is a quiet and comfortable place to space out.
We speak English, German and Spanish. Our Gallego is still a work in progress. Let´s get in touch and see how we vibe.

    Looking forward to meeting you,

    Julia, Daniel & Felix

This is all mentioned in the first text. Sorry, wrote it first and then saw all the categories here...

    Help

The following stuff is all mentioned in the first text already. But feel free to read these words as well:)
We expect independency. So we would discuss a project that is urgent (could be weeding, could be constructing something, planting trees or veggies, landscaping, taking care of the field etc.). And then, you would do it 4-5 hours a day in the morning without needing our attention too much;) And then we prepare some lunch to appreciate the help you have done, exchange ideas and thoughts and see what the day will bring after that routine, as the afternoon is more unplanned than the morning. But also this sometimes depends on the season, the weather, the skills and visions you bring.

    Accommodation

The house you would live in has its own kitchen, own bath, own living room with a wood-oven to heat the room, a record player with fantastic records to play. And if anything misses, we will gladly find a solution:)

    More info above.

We provide the food of course. You can have breakfast at "your house", there is a coffee machine, electric stove etc. Lunch ideally in the sun outside:) And dinner together either in our house or in the garden. All vegetarian.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

    As also mentioned above:

You can take your time off to do whatever floats your boat independently. Explore the region to hike, go to cafes or bars, meet like minded people on the other side of the hill etc. The beach is 15 min by car from here, Viveiro as well. And if we all feel like doing something together spontaneously, then thats also a possibility, of course. It always depends on the weather, the moods, the energy and so on.
