We need a German language teacher in a private school, located in a small tourist city Postojna, Slovenia. Postojna is famous for its caves, the medieval castle (9 km from Postojna), beautiful hills and mountains in the vicinity, lakes and rivers, forests and wildlife. Cycling is also very popular in our area, because of many interesting routes.
We are a small language school, with a good reputation. It was set up in 1992 and has been organizing a variety of language and art courses since then. Our teachers/facilitators are well qualified, flexible, helpful, hard-working and friendly. We encourage the people to study foreign languages and to love the languages as well. Our motto is "When you learn a new language, you gain a new soul."
-We currently need a teacher for 18 hours (45 minutes each) a week, but a full-time schedule is up to 30 hours/week. Our teacher should be responsible, well-qualified, hard-working, flexible, independent, friendly and should know how to encourage students not only to learn a language, but also to love it.
The help is needed from the end of October or the start of November 2015, to the end of January 2016, with the possibility of continuing after that date. Classes are mostly in the afternoon, from 16.00 - 20.00. They are held in our (private) school, which is well equipped.
Our courses follow the European Language Framework. The groups of people you teach are small (3-6 students) and there are also individual courses, one-to-one, attended by the company managers. We are open to suggestions from our teachers on how to improve our classes. The teacher/volunteer should have a good command of English as well.
Slovenian, English, French, a little Italian and Spanish
a bed-sitting room or a small flat
Postojna is located only 1 hour (by bus or train) from Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. In Ljubljana there are plenty of things to do, as in all capital cities: museums, galerries, theatre, city sightseeing, night life, shopping ...Ljubljana is a cosmopolitan city, where one is never bored. If you prefer the countryside to the city life, Postojna is the right place.
You can go walking in the forest, cycling, climbing, there are the mountains, lakes, rivers, historical sights, natural sights ... It's easy to travel from Postojna to all directions of Slovenia. You can reach the coast within an hour and a half (bus), or you can reach the remotest point in Slovenia within 3 hours. So, Postojna has an ideal central location.
The volunteer will work with us mostly in the afternoons, while they will have the rest of the day at their disposal, since they won't live in our house, but in their private room/small flat. We can book the place where they eat or they can prepare the food themselves. We appreciate that the volunteer comes to work in time and being late is one of the serious offence, since we never keep our students waiting.
