    Description

I am a 4th generation farmer in south eastern alberta! My family has been in this area raising cattle and farming the land for over 111 years! I personally took over the family farm 4 years ago. I come from a large family, 4 older sisters, 8 nieces and 4 nephews. My parents are amazing and raised us all very well.
I am in the process of bring the farm into the future. Trying to be more sustainable and less reliable on herbicides. My main focus on my farm is soil and animal health and well being.
I have many projects on the go, I work very hard and come to realize that sharing my passion is a beneficial way to give back. Quite often I take on more then I should. I do 90% of the work on my own. But would love to show people what it takes to feed the world. I am a proud to be a farmer, even on the worst of years.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

There is so much to be learned on a farm and in a farming community. Skills I've developed growing up on the farm helped me with my success in my 15 years of employment prior to coming back to the farm. I can garauntee you will learn something new everyday! You will have a new respect for the effort put in to getting food to peoples tables. And everyone in the community is welcoming. We are happy to share our lifestyle with everyone. Mi Casa, Es Su Casa.
The people you will meet, and the social gatherings we have are so inviting and friendly.
The geography in the Canadian prairies may seem one dimensional. But there is so many hidden gems and once people open their eyes they see why we love it so much.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

I have a large house with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. You will have the entire basement to yourself. Clean living accommodations. Comfy bed, and plenty of space. I will be doing renos, but one small project at a time. So wont affect your living arrangements. Large kitchen upstairs. Large fridge. You will have your own living room, tv and access to internet in the basement. Your own bathroom and shower. Laundry of course.
I cook all of my own meals, and I have been told I am a great cook haha. All I ask is that you help with either cooking or cleaning up. So naturally food will be included. If you are vegan no worries we will figure it out. There is a grocery store conveniently located not far from me. If you need anything you can drive in (using a farm vehicle, or atv) or bike or walk in. If you prefer to cook your own food, we can sort that out aswell. I have another fridge down stairs that you can use.
I keep a clean, tidy and organized house. All I can ask is that you respect it.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I have several friends and family that would be willing to pick people up from the airport and provide transportation to the farm. If not I can always come get you. I would just need forewarning.
I am an outgoing, extroverted, social person, and have many friends in the community and all over western Canada. I often travel to the mountains and into B.C. so if you want to work a bit then head out to B.C, I can make that happen.
I go to town often to visit friends. I attend rodeos, social events, dances, and sporting events. Summer I golf, play ball and get away to the city when I have free time. Winter I curl, snowboard, travel and visit family and friends in my free time.
There is always places to go and see all year round. And I am willing to show you around or if need be lend you a vehicle to go see them on your own. I am really easy going and want you to enjoy your time here.
