Opportunity to practice your English skills and immerse yourself in the Costa Rican culture. Opportunities to practice yoga, meditation. To learn and explore the volcanic highlands on the Caribbean slope of the country. We are only 25 minutes to La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano; the hub of all activity and adventure tours on this side of the country, yet we are comfortably out of range of the hustle and bustle. We live in a rural community with a mix of expats and Costa Rican (tico) families.
We have several opportunities for a volunteers in trade for dorm style rustic room and board. Volunteers should be interested in Childcare for a 4-year-old and helping around the guesthouse in whatever projects or chores that might need to be done including taking care of our three family-friendly dogs and Perhaps House sitting if we are away for a few days. Our perfect candidates would be flexible and be willing to multi-task but we are open to hearing what you would like as well. We are also looking for someone willing to help around the grounds and general handyman. We are wanting to start an organic garden and would need help with that as well. You can expect to help with many tasks including tidying, organising, cleaning, cooking, gardening, weeding, mowing, painting and other chores as assigned and needed.
Rustic Dorm style room either in house upstairs or in the rancho.
You will be offered meals at the when there are meals cooked by the host. Most days we will take turns preparing Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Other times you must self-prepare your own meals which might be a typical Costa Rican cuisine that usually includes rice and beans. Breakfast is usually fruits, toast and or cereal. Lunch normally a Casada which is a plate of Rice, beans, salad, and optional meat.
Sometimes we have casseroles or soups. We are family that cooks and eats here on the property most of the time and you will be included in our mealtimes. Perhaps helping prepare. If we go out to dinner and you join us you would be expected to buy your own meal. Please note we are not vegan or vegetarian.
Enjoy Costa Rica Nature in Our rustic two-story river lodge that has a treehouse feel with its open airy loft design. Located right next to the Rio Chachagua. This beautiful river is for swimming and relaxing and known affectionately by the locals as the Pechuga. We are just 14 km from La Fortuna, the number one adventure activity epicenter of Costa Rica. We are easily accessible, but far enough from the touristy area that you can enjoy a real taste of rural Costa Rica and still enjoy all the tours and activities that the Arenal area has to offer.
Feel at home, enjoy, nature, the river, and our hospitality in our little organic Costa Rican haven. We have three very family-friendly dogs that sometimes bark in the night as do the neighbors dogs. We have chickens including cockadoodling roosters and 1 cat. If a country sounds bother you it is recommended you bring earplugs for sleeping. This is a perfect location to home-base your trip to Costa Rica. Rustic but homey and comfortable.
