    Description

We’re a typical Aussie family living on a beautiful 5 acre rural property in the Hawkesbury region of NSW. Dad is a plumber with two daughters- Ruby, 21, who works as plumber with the old man, and Leyla (31), who has a desk job but dreams of being a writer.
One daughter lives with Dad in the main house, other daughter in a seperate cottage with a female flat mate.
We have chickens, a big dam, a small bar area with pool table in a big shed, and lots of space.
Oh, and Leroy. The tiny toy poodle who thinks he’s a tough work dog (He’s not. He’s a cuddly mop 😆)
There no wifi in the house but Dad works from home so you should be able to hop on near the office down the back.
We have no public transport out here, but are happy to run people to the train station, which is about a 10 minute drive (from there the Sydney CBD is about 50 minutes away). Older sister often drives in on weekends though and is happy to take you in and show you aorund the bars and clubs/ tourist spots Sydney has to offer.
We are also about a 50 minute drive to the beautiful Blue Mountwins and everything it has to offer.
The Hawkesbury region that we are in is in itself a wonderfully historically and naturally beautiful part of NSW, it’s many sights and experiences only a quick drive away. You’ll find the people out way very friendly and accommodating :)
We can offer a room in the main house, with shared kitchen facilities and own bathroom, or we have a caravan out the back near the dam (which is cramped but more private).
We usually have a big party each year (date always TBC, due to fire restrictions and other factors Mother Nature throws at us Down Under), but if you’re here for that you can expect a massive bonfire, great band, fireworks (if circumstances permit), and a big turn out of awesome local and non local friends.
We have a small stage down the back we’ve erected for such events.
    (We’re a family that loves music 👍🏻)

If you’re looking for a typical Aussie experience, we’re you’re fam. Dad is pretty true blue, and between us we have some great stories and an extended social circle covering a wide generational gap that we can introduce you too.
We’re not in the heart of the bush here, more rural land blocks* (*these days, didn’t used to be when we moved here but suburbia is creeping in), though we get koockburras, rosellas, pink galahs, the occasional roo, and loads of deer on the property.
Leyla is happy to help you with your English and we’re all happy to cook on occasion. Maybe light a fire and have a drink or two.

    Help

We require a looooad of tasks around the property. Honestly, we have weeds coming out our ears 😬 it’s much too much for one old man and 2 girls who work full time. We love our property and would like to see it restored to its former glory. Help required will be mainly weeding/ garden maintenance etc. We have about a million things we’d like to do (start a veggie garden, erect more fencing, re-paint everything), but landscaping is our main priority right now.
It wouldn’t be a hard craft, nor every day, and we’d make it worth it.
We don’t expect our Workawayers to help on weekends, just lend a hand during the week. A lot of the time you’ll have the property to yourself.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    Room, or caravan.
Room is private room in the main house, sizeable, one bed, own bathroom down the hall.
    Shared kitchen and laundry facilities.
Otherwise there is the caravan up the back. Kind of small, but more private. You’d still need to use the kitchen and laundry in the main house.
If you prefer, you’re absolutely more than welcome to erect a tent somewhere on the property, or pull out a swag and sleep under the stars (with some Aeroguard 😂).
We’re happy to work with you and want you to comfortable so let us know when you’re here and we’ll do what we can to ensure you have a great stay.
