Hi! we are a family of 3 humans (father, mother and sixteen year old son) and 3 shepherd dogs from Bucovina. We live in the Tuscan countryside on the slopes of Mount Amiata. Our house is under a chestnut grove and we also have an olive grove that we take care of with other friends and a small orchard. Until ten years ago we lived in Rome, then we decided to change our life: we moved to the countryside and learned how to prune and make a vegetable garden. But we like to go to town from time to time or do some tours in Tuscany, we hope that soon it will be possible to travel again! Until ten years ago we lived in Rome, then we decided to change our life: we moved to the countryside and learned how to prune and make a vegetable garden. We have land but we are not a farm. We actually do different jobs, Paolo is a psychologist and I, Elsa, work as a tour guide. We love to go to town every now and then or do some tours in Tuscany, we hope that soon it will be possible to travel again! Some of us are smokers but we try to smoke outside the home. a couple of times a week I go to yoga close to home and about twenty minutes by car there is Merigar, the most important center of Tibetan Buddhism in Europe where they often organize weekends of yoga and meditation.

Mount Amiata is a small corner of Tuscany still little known and out of mass tourism. It is a particular place that attracts people from outside (Italian and foreign) who come here by chance and then decide to look for a piece of land and put down roots. So there are some small communities of people who help each other out in the countryside and do things together. For some years now, together with other friends, we have started making oil and producing wheat with traditional local seeds for bread, pasta and desserts for our own needs.

We need help with the seasonal work of the moment (harvesting chestnuts and olives in autumn or pruning and cleaning the soil in spring). This work is easy and we always do it in a group so it is even more enjoyable; sometimes it is necessary to build a fence with poles and a net and a small shelter for animals; it will not be difficult to make friends with our dogs, which are large but sociable, so if sometimes we are not there you can feed them. We also like the ability to converse in English.

Those who come to help us will stay in a small independent house (with bathroom and kitchenette) next to ours and will have their privacy while enjoying family life while working. We will all eat together, but there is still the possibility to organize and cook in the cottage and enjoy your free time dedicating yourself to your interests. At home you eat typical Tuscan food, then in addition to wonderful local oil and wine, cheeses, meats and meat. I admit our limits, but ensuring vegan cuisine is not possible !!! .... with the vegetarian one I can do it!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

A short distance from the house there are rocks with climbing routes, the river and the summit of Mount Amiata with chestnut and beech trees and many paths for walking among vineyards and olive trees. There are also many spas that are not paid for. Small famous villages such as Bagni Vignone, Pienza, the Val d'Orcia and Montalcino are 30/40 minutes away by car and you can get to Siena in just over an hour. The sea is also not far away. You can travel by public transport, but having a driving license and being self-employed can help. We can lend a bicycle to get around the area. We like to spend time working in the countryside, organizing lunches with friends and sometimes making trips / excursions in the surrounding area.
