A small hobby farm on Salt Spring Island on the West Coast of Canada. We are located centrally on the island, walking distance to Ganges town and to the ocean. We have gardens, fruit trees and several pets that need attending. We are starting a mobile Kayaking company that also needs support. Salt Spring Island is a unique community with it's famous market, studio gallery tours, ecstatic Dance Temple, breath taking scenery and very friendly people. We are a family of three with a background in Education. We love swimming, kayaking, dancing and working on the land. We have other family members living on the land. There are lots of opportunity for creativity, building, harvesting and learning.
Help in the house
We are very interested in permaculture practices, water catchment, organic gardening. We practice Compassionate Communication and non judgement. We offer a safe supportive and encouraging environment. This is a safe environment for naturist with access to clothing optional spaces on the land. We will also be offering kayaking opportunities for volunteers that are keen or have previous experience.
We are looking for someone to help with a variety of work ie: weeding, trail trimming, berry picking, cleaning boats, putting gear away, dog walking, house keeping, Spanish language practice, painting and general maintenance. There is also opportunity for a taste of West Coast Kayaking.
We are offering a private glam camping site.With private shower, composting outhouse, full outside kitchen with hotplate, fridge and all kitchen amenities. Food supplies will be purchased for the space according to the volunteers specifications. It will be the volunteers responsibility to cook for themselves and keep their space clean. We have a small tent available or you can bring your own. It is a very beautiful large space in the a meadow close to Ganges, 20 min walk to town or the beach. Internet is limited, it is recommended that you have a booster for your device or data. There is a parking space if needed.
There is a large variety of activities that can be explored with one's time off. From hiking, swimming, kayaking, dancing and exploring the Island's many artisans. There are multiple festivals and music concerts throughout the summer and Vancouver Island only a 35 min ferry ride away.
