WE ARE TAKING BOOKINGS FOR 2020

Hello my name is Andy. I've been all around Europe as a work away volunteer. I absolutely loved the experience and skills i gathered along the way and always said I am going to give others the opportunity and become a great host.
So now I'm a Host looking for help with looking after horses on a beautiful farm (Quinta Carvalhas) in central Portugal that offers riding holidays and is also a retreat center. No experience needed but a true love of animals is a must as all our horses are family members and a good working ethic as you will be left to carry out task by your self at times. We have some jumping horses and dressage stallion and tiny Shetland ponies too, plus 4 dogs soon to be 6 and 17 chickens.
There is a family of 5 humans that live on the farm and you will live with the family on the farm in a new bunkhouse which is so nice and comfy with its own private bathroom and kitchen space. The farm is only 2 minutes from the local train station which is a hour from Lisbon city by train. The local shops cafe and restaurants only a 10 minute walk away.

Any questions please message me I'm happy to help to answer any of your questions.
We can be flexible for the right person on duration of time spent with us and helping you along on your traveling adventure

Get to be some of the first people to discover this magical place. This is a new host but experienced workawayer

There is a swimming pool on the farm and bikes to use to discover the area.
There could be riding opportunity for experience riders but riding is not part of the daily tasks.

    Help

We have 11 horses and they are all living out in big grass paddocks. We need help with the normal daily horsey tasks. All the horses, apart from 3, get daily exercise - we need help with collecting them from the field and bringing them to be groomed and tacked up, ready for exercise. Also poo picking and general help when needed on the farm.

We are just over an hour away from Lisbon, easily reached by train. And 10 mins away from Golega, the European center of horses. There are lots of local cafes and restaurants and we have a dam on the farm for natural swimming or you can chill by the pool. There are also lots of local historical sites for you to explore, as well as the Tagus river.
