Hi, I am Dave, and I have 2 20x20 ft. organic food gardens. I am growing corn, beans, cabbage, squash and some greens. We will donate what we don't eat to an organization in the area that I sometimes volunteer with. Their mission is to help people in need, learn how to grow their own food using natural methods. I help an elderly couple here who own the land. I take care of their animals as an exchange for living here. You don't have to help with the animals unless you want to. It is mainly just feeding. Volunteers can stay in a fairly large house that I have to myself, or of course tent camp if you wish. The temps here are very nice in the summer, rarely exceeding 85 and usually dropping to the 50's at night. We are at about 7500 ft elevation. I would like to share this place with other peaceful people who like the idea of growing your own food the natural way, and enjoy nature. Other projects might include building a small underground root storage, and work on some fencing.

Mostly, people can come here to heal and enjoy nature. As far as gardening goes, people will learn how to grow food using natural methods like gathering soil from under certain trees to enrich the garden soil. They will also learn to build deer/rabbit fencing. They can enjoy the wilderness which is right off of the property.
People can expect to do general garden tasks such as weeding, gathering mulch etc.

People can stay in a room or in the living room (which ever you prefer) in a fully furnished house, shared by me. There is a cot with a mattress, which is comfortable. Full size bathroom and hot shower. No animals in the house. As far as food goes, I can provide it, and there are no diet restrictions. I make sour dough bread as a a staple. There are some chickens, so sometimes I have eggs.
This place is surrounded by mountains. There are many natural sights to see, such as el morro national monument, ice caves, and much more. It is located a couple of miles from the continental divide as well. Grants is a half hour drive and Albuqurque is about 2 hours. If you walk off the property in any direction you are in the wilderness. It would be nice if you have your own vehicle but we could arrange a pick up from Gallup or Albuquerque (amtrak stations) if need be.
