    Description

This is an intentional community in Ecuador. The core values in our community are ethical veganism, evolution of consciousness and freedom of choice. We aim to create a family friendly environment where children, adults, elderly people, and animals are able to thrive. Our primary goal is to become self sustainable and grow an abundance of organic food primarily focusing on fruits, vegetables, greens, and herbs. We are using permaculture methods to develop the land, produce fruit and vegetables, and work towards self-sustainability.

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You can experience living in the jungle in an intentional community. You can learn about permaculture and farming for example how to take care of the trees and harvest the fruit. You will live with a group of people coming from all over the world so you will meet many people from different countries. You can take part in the community activities like yoga, dance parties, bonfires, potlucks. If your volunteering goes well you'll have the opportunity to become a community member and live here.

  • Help

    Help

We're looking for people primarily doing permaculture projects and construction but any skills and ideas are welcome that can improve the community. There are many tasks available that can contribute towards your daily hours such as harvesting fruit, weedwhacking, planting seeds, looking after the garden beds, construction, painting, social media work, etc. If you have a certain skill that is not listed here but can benefit the community then you are welcome to discuss it with us.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a community house with rooms available. Bear in mind the accomodation is quite basic. We don't have hot water. We have approx. five rooms, of which two have a proper mattress. We have a few sheets, bugnets, pillows and blankets to provide, but at the moment we don't have the hospitality management to provide a full clean set for each workawayer.

There is plenty of space to put up your tent if you have one. We also have tents here, but they are not new.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Keep in mind the population of the community fluctuates over time. In the past we have been around 15 people, but at the moment we are only two long term people. This will vary depending on how many workawayers are here.

At times, there is plenty of food from the land. Currently we are approaching Chonta season which will provide meals everyday for months to come. Also the banana production is very high at times, providing enough for everyone. Other food from the land include ice cream bean, peanut butter fruit, amazon tree grape, papaya, yuca and taro of which the availability depends on season and currently supply.

However, you should count on buying the majority of your food from the market or by using our food order. We don't currently provide meals for our workawayers, you will prepare your food yourself.

You must follow a vegan diet and lifestyle while you are here. This means your are not allowed to bring any kind of animal derived food here. Currently we make only one exception, as we are feeding eggs to our dog and cat.

We have wifi and people commonly teach languages online in one of our rooms, this usually is not a problem as noone is disturbed, just be mindful if others are sharing the space. Bear in mind the power and internet sometimes goes out briefly. Commonly there are cuts a few times per month, lasting 1-3 hours, sometimes even a whole day.
