    Description

Our academy is a bilingual K-5 school in Dakar devoted to holistic education within a truly Islamic environment. Our mission is to provide our students rigorous academic and spiritual training.

Senegal, a 95% muslim country, is one of the most peaceful democracies on the continent. In this era of globalization, there are prominent misconceptions and misrepresentations of Islam, both within the community and without. It is increasingly important for Muslim children to understand the peace of Islam. Our academy has an Islamic framework to be culturally relevant and to build upon cultural and religious traditions while looking towards the future. Our academy is a welcoming and safe environment for students and their families to come together and learn how to embrace social justice and humanity.

Senegal has something to offer every traveler. In your free time you can visit the bustling markets of Dakar, showcasing colorful West African fabrics to fresh fish caught just that afternoon or visit one of Senegal's many attractions for visitors and locals alike.

île d'Ngor, a perfect island getaway, is reminiscent of the Caribbean with waves sought after by the best surfers and reggae playing at every beachside restaurant. île de Gorée, just a short boat ride away was largest slave trading center on the African Coast and rich in history to this day.

Terenga, loosely translated to hospitality, is one of Senegal's proudest customs. Senegalese people pride themselves in being warm and welcoming to all. Senegalese love to share their traditions and the culture and it is not unusual for a stranger to invite you into their home for a meal and attaya (afternoon tea).

The nightlife in Dakar is glittering and there are often concerts that showcase some of the best artists in West Africa and Europe as well as up-and-coming musicians local to Senegal.

Senegal has some of the best cuisine in West Africa (in our biased opinion). The national dish, Thieboudieun/Ceebujen, is a combination of rice and fish with local vegetables. Traditionally Senegalese families eat around one common bowl, seated on the ground. During the spring season mangos fall from trees and you can buy fresh coconuts on the street for less than 50 cents.

Transport within Senegal is very accessible and quite inexpensive.
