I will introduce myself by saying that I am a curious soul, eager to explore and travel, who wants to expand her knowledge of the world, to see different perspectives, to constantly learn, and to connect deeply to the experience of life. My name is Mara Ilinca, and I have been on this earth for 24 years, but I was born and raised in an Eastern European country full of mysteries, Romania.

I propose to be as honest as I can in this description, and I will reveal to you that at the age of 6, I received an enchanted book that opened my soul and mind: a geographical atlas that described each country separately. I was so fascinated that I decided to visit as many countries as I could in this life until I die.

Until the year 2023, I managed to travel to 15 countries in Europe, most of them with family or friends. But from the beginning of 2023, I decided to follow my soul's desire alone and not wait for anyone else, so I was alone for 3 months in Asia, visiting 5 countries. Then, I went alone to Ireland for 6 months to work, where I am now. My plan for 2024 is to visit at least 10 countries, including the Balkans, where I have never been.
 
I am an open person, eager to learn anything new, and I have an open heart to help anyone build their dream because I deeply understand what it's like to need help to realize your dreams. I understand that most hosts have a certain dream that they want to fulfill through Workaway, a platform dedicated to travelers, dreamers, and open people with pure intentions. It is also one of my dreams to do the same thing in the future. That's why I'm sincerely dedicated to helping hosts, no matter where I am or what I'm doing.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have been studying for 2 years in Romania at a university about tourism and hotel management. Because of this, I had the opportunity to work for 5 months in a beautiful resort in Germany, near Berlin, in 2019, where I learned a lot of things about hospitality and tourism and also practiced the German language.

After that, I decided to follow a course that I had been passionate about for a long time, but I didn't have the courage to follow it until then, namely astrology. I have studied this complex occult science for 3 years, and I am still studying it. This opened my appetite for psychology, spirituality, awareness, mental health, yoga, healing, meditation, mindfulness, and the list goes on.

I have made the decision to work as a freelance astrologer for one year, and I have made several birth charts, compatibility charts, and forecasts for my clients. I have shared astrology-related content on Instagram, where I have developed marketing and image-editing skills that I can apply to my next jobs. During this time, I have also promoted astrology knowledge and forecasts on Patreon.

In 2021, I was lucky to experience my first Workaway on Rügen Island, Germany, where I have worked as a waitress in a wonderful location near the beach. The family was really inviting and helpful and soon became like my own family. I have also taken care of the guesthouse sometimes, cleaning the rooms or the outside area. I have developed new skills in my work environment, such as teamwork, communication, cooperation, responsibility, and also babysitting skills, by staying with a cute 4-year-old girl! :)

My passion to spend time with children has led me to choose to apply for another Workaway program, this time in my natal country, in 2022. I have found a foreign family living here (American-Luxembourgish) with four children (ages 8 years, 6 years, 4 years, and 2 years old). I have spent approximately two months with them, playing games with them, taking care of their needs, helping them learn new things, and assisting their mother whenever she required my assistance. I have improved my ability to be patient, entertaining, and responsible around children. It was a great time for me to grow personally.

In 2023, I decided to travel alone backpacking in Asia for 3 months in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and the Philippines. It was an experience in which I matured enormously, I overcame many of my fears, I went out of my comfort zone, I experienced different cultures and different mentalities, and I participated in activities that I would never have expected, like feeding the elephants in Chiang Mai, swimming with whale sharks, sardines, and turtles in Oslob, canyoneering and jumping from 7 meters into the water in Moalboal, trekking in the rice fields in Sa Pa, spending 3 days on the back of a motorbike in the Vietnamese mountains, and connecting to the majestic temples of Angkor Wat. I was amazed by the gentleness, goodness, purity, and warmth of the people of these countries.

From August 2023 on, I started working in a hotel in Ireland for a new cultural experience, and I will stay here until February 2024, where I work both in the restaurant as a waitress and in accommodation as a housekeeper. Through this experience, I managed to further develop my skills in the hospitality field, skills that I can offer in new jobs or by volunteering.

I have skills that I have not yet managed to develop through my experience so far, but which I am eager to start developing. I would like to have the chance to develop my skills in gardening as well, because I have a strong connection with the elements of nature, in taking care of animals or pets (I already have 2 cats at home that I love very much, but one day I will want several pets), in babysitting, because I am a magnet for children, I have a special connection with them and I feel that I can speak their language, in everything related to spirituality, because I have developed intuition, empathy and I can learn very quickly the depth of human and behavioral psychology, in dance or yoga, because I have certain flexibility of my body and a desire to be in the present moment, in music, because I have a musical ear, voice and I can easily connect with musical sounds and notes, in the kitchen, because I feel that I can use my creative vision in cooking, in teaching, because I feel that I have talent in storytelling about the subjects I like.
