Hi! My name is Abby! I just finished my undergraduate degree in sustainable food and farming. I am passionate about social justice and have been involved in activism while at university. I would like to do global food sovereignty and land rights solidarity work! Hearing people talk about their passions, working in the dirt, and watching almost any sport brings me happiness. I'm looking to connect with new like-minded people and become a better more active community member of the world.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have a lot of experience in childcare, having worked at multiple nature/farm camps and soccer camps. I have coached soccer before and love the sport. I love children and find working with them is very fulfilling.

Additionally, I have farmed for two summers on organic small-scale farms and have been involved in a non-profit that runs community gardens and environmental educational events in an urban environment. I also have experience working stalls at farmers markets. By taking two university courses, I obtained my permaculture certificate as well.

I have worked in a restaurant/bakery in the past and for my last three semesters of university, I worked at my school's bake shop as a student worker. In my personal time, I bake and cook a lot. I do a lot of meal prep, including bagels and English muffins. Food, whether I am growing or making it, is a passion of mine. I think it is a powerful tool of resistance and can build strong resilient communities.

Some other skills of mine are: I speak french. I am comfortable with animals, having grown up with a dog and some smaller animals like hamsters. I also have experience caring for chickens. General house chores like caring for house plants, cleaning and laundry are all things I am able and comfortable doing. Additionally, through my activism at university, I have gotten more confident in planning and hosting events.

Some other hobbies of mine are reading, foraging, doing puzzles and singing/dancing with my friends. I love to laugh and joke around. I grew up playing lots of boardgames/card games with my family as well. As I interact with the world, I am often thinking about how capitalism, racism/white supremacy, classism and colonialism affect our material circumstances. This Political outlook is very important to me and is something I enjoy discussing. I am interested in learning more about mutual aid and solidarity economic practices around the world as well as diverse leftist ideologies.
I am also an Irish citizen, and thus can more easily travel throughout the EU, as well as certain other countries!
