No matter how bad my day was, my dad always told me to enjoy every sunset, because you’ll never be able to copy the colors. With every sunset, as the sun dyes the clouds and paints the sky, I am grateful for the day I’ve had and I am fueled by the energy of the adventure waiting for me at sunrise.
Hi everyone! My name is Tatiana Schaapherder, I'm a 20-year-old artist, teacher, nature lover, and travel enthusiast, who is always itching for a new adventure and the opportunity to meet new people! As an artist, I am driven by the authenticity, uncertainty, and spontaneity of life, and as an educator, I am driven by the passion of those around me. I strive to completely immerse myself in the diversity of our world, connect with others, and lead a full and happy life. I am motivated through the connections I share with others, and through hearing about their passions, dreams, and aspirations I am endlessly inspired.
I am currently a college junior (3rd year), pursuing a K-12 Art Education degree, with a performing arts minor. I have a passion for art, travel, the environment, cooking, and anything outdoors. I am from both the US and the Netherlands but I have lived in the US, Tanzania, Japan, St. Coix, and most recently, Germany. I have also taken advantage of every opportunity provided and have had the privilege of traveling to twenty countries so far… and now it’s time for a new adventure!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I am currently a college junior pursuing a major in art education and a minor in performing arts. I’ve worked as an online art teacher, through an organization called Outschool, for almost two years and have been a working artist for six. I work both individually and through commission as well, creating a variety of mixed media works that have been showcased in galleries across Iowa. I have also done a handful of murals, on barns, in schools, and in houses. I’ve volunteered as a teaching assistant for the past three years in elementary, middle, and high schools. I've also been a babysitter for a few families, so working with children is right up my alley and something I get tons of energy doing! I also grew up on a small farm in Iowa, so I am very familiar with the hard work it takes to maintain and manage land, as well as tend a garden. On my most recent Workaway, I worked as a caretaker for my host's alpacas, as well as worked in their hostel. Overall, I am a very enthusiastic individual and a hard worker, who is willing to learn and try anything and everything!
