Hi!
I'm Shari, I'm Italian and I'm 27. I live in the north countryside of Italy with my five animals (3 cats and 2 dogs), surrounded by nature, trees, mountain and lakes.
I'm a very sensitive and emphatic person, reliable, honest, cheerful and helpful. I strongly believe in kindness, communication and politeness and I try to put these values into practice in my relationships and in my everyday life.
In December, I graduated in Law at my hometown university after 6 years of intense studying; it was a time full of sacrifices and I'm now searching for an adventure to realize one of my deepest desires: travel and visit the beauty of our immense world, meet people of other cultures and learn from them, broaden my mind with new experiences and challenge myself outside of my comfort zone to overcome my fears. All things that, due to different reasons, I wasn't able to do in the past.

Regarding my interests, I extremely love nature and all its creatures, plants and animals (I've never lived without a pet around me); I practice yoga and meditation as well as Reiki; I love reading, hiking, sports, photography, doing DIY projects and handworks, learning new languages and singing.
I'm very curious about all kinds of topics and always enthusiastic to know more about what I don't know; I love learning new things! I'm a well organized, accurate and cleaned person, non-smoker and I love clean and tidy spaces. I'm hardworking, responsible and I always try to be helpful when needed. In my daily life I'm mostly vegetarian but I'm aware it can be not easy for other people so I can be flexible and adapt as much as I can.

I'm very happy to be here and I'm looking forward to find my perfect Host and meet new wonderful people and friends!

I really love languages and I'd like to have the opportunity to learn/improve some of them. One of the reasons why I'd like to have a Workaway experience is to improve my English. It's been a while since I've spoken it, so I'm surely a little rusty; nonetheless, I learn very quickly and I'm looking forward to improve it. I'd really like to learn other languages as well, such as Spanish or French and to teach Italian, a very beautiful language.

Was könntest du arbeiten?
I really love nature and animals and always have cats or dogs; I love horses as well, even if I don't have any experience or ride abilities.

Since I was a child I helped my father with different DIY projects so I really like them. I'm also used to renovate and paint old furniture, assemble it, paint walls etc. With the right directions I can do this kinds of handwork.

One of my favourite hobby is gardening. I grew up in a house with two big gardens and in the last year all the necessary work was up to me: cut the grass and the plants, pick the vegetables in our small orchard, plant new trees etc.

I also like children and have a significant experience with them: ten years ago I started to babysit and help children with their homework and I still do it sometimes, especially with a family who's became my second family.

I worked in a café for a short period of time where I interacted with customers and made coffees.

Vom Workawayer (Shari) für Host (Help around our little oasis ...)

It’s difficult to put into words my feelings about my stay with Isabelle and Gerry. For sure, words will never be enough to describe my three wonderful weeks with them and to express my gratitude for everything they did for me.
It was my first Workaway experience and I was a bit anxious because I didn’t know what to expect. However, from the… read more first moment I met Isabelle and Gerry I knew I had nothing to fear and every moment has been special and perfect (except for those cruel midges ahah). I never thought it would be possible to feel such a deep affection and to be so connected with people I haven’t met before, but that’s what happened with Gerry and Isabelle. They certainly are one of those special people you meet once in a lifetime and I know for sure I won’t be the same person as I was before knowing them.
They welcomed and treated me as if I were a member of the family (involving me in their lovely family life) and I immediately felt at home, warmly respected, accepted, safe and heartily looked after. They gave me unconditional trust, kindness and support and my presence and my work for them have never been taken for granted; in fact, they’ve always had words of appreciation for me and for the various task I did. This, of course, was really important to me because I really wanted to help them and to do a good job! They’re the most kind, gentle, caring, generous, loving, hardworking, calm, positive, sweet, cheerful, patient and hilarious people I’ve ever met! Their home is like a precious gem full of care and love: a peaceful and breathtaking place to find inner peace and to reconnect with yourself, surrounded by flourishing nature, wild mountains, sheep and endless fields. There’s something special and magical in this place, I could feel it. Here you can feel the positive and relaxed energy which was a balm for my soul; here I’ve eventually been able to breathe again after a long difficult period. I feel tremendously privileged to have had the chance to stay here and to witness Isabelle and Gerry’s worldview and their incredible and sustainable way of living. I’ve learnt so much from them: they inspired me to become a better person, even more careful about my impact on our wonderful planet. Just with their example I’ve became more aware of my way of living and I’ve realized what I think I’d like my future life to be. They’ve taught me a lot about values of life and what really matters.
The work I had to do was always doable and I had plenty of time for myself and to relax: Isabelle was always careful to give me the lighter work! I only wish I could help them more!
They were always available and helpful in any possible way: they were happy to drive me wherever I wanted and they even looked after me when I caught a cold! On my last day we went for a tour of the Beara Peninsula together and it was magical: what I’ll cherish the most is the time spent with them!
They’ve been amazingly patient with my English as well, helping me a lot to improve it and to learn new words and idioms!
I’ll miss them so dearly and I’ll miss our moments together: the morning tea and my chats/language lessons with Isabelle, our gardening works amongst the flowerbeds, the relaxing and special time I had near the sea, the delicious food Isabelle prepared everyday with so much care and love (I don’t know where she finds the time, the patience and the energy to do it after all the hard work outside!) and most of all our lovely and delicious lunches and dinners all together, full of warmth, talks and laughter! I’ll miss Little Cat and our cuddles so much!
They’ve become a second family to me and I feel so blessed and honored that our paths met in this life. I can’t thank them enough for everything they gave me (that was further more than I gave to them) and I’ll dearly keep them in my heart forever.

Vom Workawayer (Shari) für Host (Help with gardening and some ...)

I stayed with Carmel in the month of June and I can say that Carmel is such a cool, strong, generous, kind, caring and available person! The generosity she showed me in many different occasions really moved me and left me with no words at all!
I was there in a particular period for her as she had to undergo a serious surgery; despite this, she did… read more everything she could to make me feel comfortable and she was extremely thoughtful and available with me, always ready to help me in any situation and to accomodate my wishes! She was always more than happy to show me the amazing area where she lives in, despite the amount of work she always had to do! She deeply trusted me from the very beginning, both with her wonderful dogs and in the house itself, and this was really incredible and moving for me!
My work for her was mainly minding Riley and Toby (her two lovely, adorable and sweet dogs) and taking care of the house with different renovation and reorganization projects (which I loved). I always had a lot of freedom and flexibility in planning and executing my daily chores and I was able to choose what and when to eat. Carmel was always careful that I enjoyed everything I did and really attentive to give me free choice in any occasion.
She helped me a lot with my english as well (increasing my confidence every single time - thank you!) and she taught me so much about Irish culture and traditions (something that I’ve really really appreciated).
Her place is in a stunning location near the vibrant village of Clonakilty and many wonderful beaches; I had the occasion to spend some time there, relaxing and sunbathing, and it was absolutely gorgeous, a real paradise on earth!
I’ve learnt so much about myself during my time here, everything was a constant discover and surprise. I’ve been able to meet and talk to many different people which have always been extremely kind and friendly to me. I had therefore the chance to get out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself in various situations; this was really useful to strengthen my self-confidence and my personality even more! I will always be grateful to Carmel for this!
I also want to express my deepest gratitude to Josie and John (Carmel’s neighbours) for their incredible and constant kindness, availability, help and smiling presence!
I can claim that my time here was a powerful life lesson in so many different ways and I’ll cherish it forever! I’ll be forever grateful to have met a person like Carmel and such wonderful and loving people. Thanks a million for everything you did for me Carmel, I’ll never forget it!
