I am currently working in a shelter for homeless people in Antwerp, as a social worker. Initially started there four years ago when I just graduated as a cultural anthropologist. It was a short term contract, to help during the hectic winter period. Yet then I got the opportunity to stay and it's been a great challenge so far. Still learning everyday!

For now I decided to sign up on workaway again to spend my holidays in a more meaningful way and meet new people while traveling. I’m an easygoing person who enjoys the rush, diversity and anonymity of the city just as much as the tranquillity of the countryside. In the future I hope to find more of a balance between these two dynamics. I love going on long hikes and camping trips. And I love gardening, even though I don't have much knowledge about it yet. To read and to write as well. Besides that I like to spend my days in the kitchen, trying out recipes or just improvising my own dishes with healthy sustainable ingredients.

In the future, I dream of starting a community project or cultural center where people can gather and express their talents through art and food. And simultaneously, create work opportunities for those who experience barriers to find work on the regular labour market.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

No professional experience but I love to cook so I'd be happy to help in the kitchen. I am creative and like to spend my time with artistic/ handicraft projects as well as painting and decorating. Besides that I love to be outdoors and work with my hands. I would be very happy to learn whatever new skill necessary to contribute to your project!
