My name is Bridget and my husband is Kirk. We're originally from the UK and moved to Nova Scotia in 2007, instantly falling in love with the place. We settled in the beautiful Annapolis Valley with our two beautiful daughters and two crazy dogs. We are very fortunate to live in this 145 year old home in the grounds of a beautiful estate in Sheffield Mills, Canning, Nova Scotia. The house is set in 3.5 acres including a large pond with beautiful weeping willow trees. Attached to the main house is a charming 2 bedroom bungalow with a full kitchen and laundry facilities, large living room with Smart TV, Wifi, private back deck and would be accommodation for the successful applicant. This apartment is rented out at $145 a night on AirBnB during the summer months. We moved in about 5 months ago and we recognize the grounds need some work and TLC.

They will have free accommodation in a beautiful, rural setting, right in the heart of farming and agricultural community. Annapolis Valley is fast becoming a hot spot for foodies and wine connoisseurs. Devour! The Food Film Fest is an international festival celebrating cinema, food and wine culture. The festival is an experiential celebration of food on film, the culture of food and the dramatic impact it has on our day-to-day lives. Nova Scotia was one of the first areas to cultivate grapes in North America and today the Annapolis Valley wine region is home to many award winning wineries.
We are looking for people who have skills with general maintenance and someone who loves gardening with a good knowledge of perennials. Nova Scotia can be covered in snow for 4-5 months of the year so the ideal person would be someone who wants to travel in November and December (before the snow and the ground freezes) or April/May (after the snow melts and before the tourists arrive). On top of the garden, there is some maintenance work required in the main house - carpentry and electrical particularly.
2 queen size bedrooms with full closets, one with a walk out to a small deck to watch sunsets over the North Mountain or bald eagles from the nearby Eagle Watch, full kitchen with all conveniences (stove, microwave, large fridge, all cooking utensils) your own laundry facilities, new bathroom and large sitting room with large screen TV to connect you to Netflix. Keyless entry for your convenience, your own private deck and patio areas with BBQ facilities and access to the pool of the main house in the summer months complete this little piece of paradise.
We are also only 15 minutes from the coast and a visit to Nova Scotia is not complete without witnessing the incredible tides of the Bay of Fundy. Each day, twice a day, 160 billion tonnes of seawater flow in and out of it, creating one-of-a-kind adventures that literally can't be had any place else on earth! Only an 90 minutes from here and you could also go Whale Watching. Want to stick closer to home - then Eagle Watch might be for you. From December to February a farmers field behind our house becomes a great sightseeing destination for those who enjoy eagles. Residents of the Community have turned the last two weekends in January into an ever growing event. Along with the population of eagles, the watch now features other events such as pancake breakfasts, and musical entertainment. More than 500 eagles have been counted in recent years during the Eagle Watch and it is not unusual to have a tree with more than 30 birds perched in it.
