We are a young couple (27yr olds) who currently live in New Zealand but are moving to Europe May 2020. The love for nature, animals, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, music, food & wine has made us stay in NZ for over 3 years but now it is time to go 'home'!
Pinhancos, Portugal is a remotely situated place which means that local children and young adults do not get to experience much of outside culture, art or music. We intend to restore our house in Pinhancos to provide lodgings to internationals. We believe that the community would benefit greatly from having people from other parts of the world visit. In addition we wish to use the space to run workshops for people in our village to inspire them to dream big!
A little about Natacha:
Originally from Portugal, Serra da Estrela, however, spent several years living in Ireland studying Veterinary Medicine.

Originally from Australia, Queensland. Studied Engineering and Finance in Brisbane.

Pinhancos is a charming little village in the mountains of Portugal - Serra da Estrela 'Mountains of the stars'. Pinhancos is like falling back into the old days where people lived a simple life with simple pleasures, connected to nature living off the land, disconnected from technology and happily living together in a tight community. Serra da Estrela is as authentic as Portugal can get!
This is an excellent opportunity to get off the beaten track, away from tourist traps, learn Portuguese and REAL culture with some like minded people. Enjoy exploring lakes, rivers, hikes, rock climbing, local food & wine. There is also a great club/rave culture in nearby towns/cities (BOOM is only 1 hour away!).
We intend to restore a house in Pinhancos. It is over 200 years old and very typical of the area - solid granite walls, clay roof and wooden floors. We wish to bring it back to life - to get it to a comfortable living standard for people staying with us.
The house is generally in good condition but requires some maintenance such as: painting, restoring wooden floor, patching things up, gardening and general clean up. We are also building a new bathroom which requires some extra hands.

The house has several rooms for which you can choose from. The room would be private and the house is shared with us and possibly a friend or two that may be visiting.
When we are not working on the house we will show you around the area. Serra da Estrela is a national park with many lakes, rivers and natural life to see. We also like to socialize and have people over so you would benefit from that also :)
