We are an English couple who live in a 19th century converted barn in East Cornwall within close proximity to the Devon / Cornwall border. The barn is a unique three bedroom property designed by the artist and architect Richard Foxcroft, with one of the bedrooms conveniently housed in a self contained annex. Located on the edge of the River Lynher in a quintessential Cornish Village the location benefits from a friendly and peaceful atmosphere and beautiful views across the Lynher valley.
We love having family and friends visit so the house can be busy with visitors, both young and old at times.

We are a non-smoking home (smoking is permitted outside) and we share our home with 2 dogs and keep pigs and chickens so guests must be comfortable around animals.

We´ll be happy to teach you about various renovation projects, decoration, gardening and all other tasks required. As English hosts we can offer opportunity to develop English language skills. We enjoy a positive rural lifestyle so there is definite opportunity to enjoy and learn about the tranquility and laid back atmosphere that it offers. Our local area and beyond has a rich history so those wishing to explore and learn more about the unique offerings of the South West of England, a favoured holiday destination for many, would be perfectly placed here.

Our busy jobs mean our time is limited and so we would be very grateful for help in the maintenance and development of our home, outbuilding and land, therefore offering a variety of experience.
The barn is connected to just under 4 acres of land which requires ongoing maintenance including; grass cutting, planting, clearing and pond maintenance. We have a small studio hidden away in the depths of our wooded area which we plan to develop as a self contained hideaway, skills in decorating would be valuable. Any experience in building and renovation would also be welcomed. We enjoy craft and up cycle projects so would very much welcome like minded guests to share and develop ideas and perhaps teach us some new creative skills. We require help with our growing collection of animals involving basic general care.
If you let us know a specific area of interest we will always do our best to accommodate you.

The main house has large living/dining room with vaulted beamed ceiling and a log burning stove. The family kitchen may be available to share and includes a traditional oil fuelled Aga stove which we do all of our cooking on.
The bathroom has an electric shower and separate bath.
There are 3 double bedrooms, one downstairs and one in the attic space in one end of the barn and the third in the attic space at the opposite end as part of a self contained annex. The annex includes a small shower room and toilet, kitchenette and study area with log burning stove. Available bedrooms would depend on the number of workawayers at one time as we would aim to ensure that workawayers are housed in one or other end of the barn to allow some privacy for all.
We enjoy healthy world cuisine and traditional English dishes and baking and you would be welcomed to share meal times with us and help with some meal preparation.

We have TV and wifi with a good connection speed.

There is a friendly pub just 2 minutes walk from the property and local shops, road and public transport links are within convenient distance. A driving licence may be recommended but the family would be happy to assist with transport within reason and of course you can join us on local trips.

We are equi-driving distance from both North and South Cornish coast. The rugged and beautiful North Coast is known for the surfing hotspot of Widemouth Bay and Bude and the famed fishing village of Port Isaac, home to Martin Clune's Doc Martin TV series and the latest movie Fisherman's Friends. Tintagel is a close neighbour enjoying dramatic sea views and the myths and legends of King Arthur. The South Coast is home to the unspoiled fishing village of Polperro with spectacular views making it an artist's paradise. There are many more places to explore besides.
