Description
In a residential house in Najafgarh, New Delhi, we are caring since 2011 for children with special needs. Our "children" are nowadays young people, one is even studying at the university and another is finishing soon high school. They are facing different challenges due to their physical and mental condition (Cerebral Palsy, Ehlers Danlos Syndrom, Borderline Syndrom, etc.), but with the right support they are looking into a bright future. We are also doing house visits to two more students with Brittle Bone Disease. With physiotherapy, medical assistance and school support we already have made a huge difference in their lives. Be part of their journey!
In general a minimum stay of 4 weeks would be preferred.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
In our home you live together with four of our students, two Care Givers and our manager. Whereas the Care Givers will be happy about hearing from your country and your culture, you are also welcome to learn how they cook Indian dishes. When we do housevisits to children in need you are welcome to join. Also you can go with us to the markets or the hospitals when there are appointments. You are welcome to share ideas and to have chats with our grown-up students or our local part time staff (physiotherapist therapist, social worker and tution teachers). Beside learning about the Indian culture you will also gain knowledge about the challenges which people with special needs are facing in India. We live close to a bazar where you can dive into the colourful Indian life!

Help
Our students are quite busy with their daily routine like going to school/university, receiving therapy sessions or getting tution support. They are since 2011 with us, so when they were little they enjoyed playing games with the volunteers. But as they grew up their lives become a bit busier due to their studies and we stopped receiving volunteers. Now all of us have the strong feeling that the time has come to welcome again people from all over the world to get a real Indian experience in our home. Our place is perfect for independent workawayers who would not feel bored when there is not so much to do at our home. Means we encourage our volunteers to be open for any situation where they can interact with our students, but also they can feel free to experience the outside world and the indian culture on their own.
Whenever we are going for housevisits or when there are medical appointments we would be happy if you want to join us.Languages spoken

We can provide a little room in the ground floor with a sofa bed, filtered water and a cupboard. It is a bit tiny but cosy . Feel free to enjoy the sun on our rooftop terrasse or spending time with our students and care givers in the living room. Meals will be provided three times per day.
What else ...
It is easy and very cheap to go around with local transports. You can catch the Delhi Metro for visiting the City Center or to head in any direction you want. One day you should visit the Tibetan Colony Majnu-Ka-Tilla or going to the Red Fort.
