Descripción
Hello everyone! Our names are Verónica and Axel.
Verónica has a big heart for animals and is trying to help whenever she can. She loves to practise yoga and is interested in nutrition and spending time in nature. Axel is working as a motortourguide and is on the road many days a month sleeping somewhere else. He loves to spend the evenings in front of the chimney with good talks when he is at home.
We have a small charity for animal protection and live in the countryside in the Sierra the Grazalema. At home we have 7 rescued dogs (Coco, Nes, Sia, Mia, Stevie, Manu and Yaco) and 4 cats (Sol, Floki, Tina and Simba). We also have 3 donkeys and a horse that are currently in the place where Verónica works. On our huge property we have a veggie garden and 4 chickens. On the other side of the road ther is an access to a beautiful river, the perfect spot for taking a bath or doing yoga.

They can learn about animal welfare since we are professionally dedicated to it. Live in a traditional village in Andalucia, with very good food and traditional spanish culture, amazing landscapes and opportunities to do different sports in nature (climbing, hiking, cycling...).
Ayuda
Feeding the animals (dogs, cats and chicken) and taking care of them while we are working or when we have to travel. Taking care means going for walks though the property with them, cuddles
and cleaning the stable. You have to be able to clean wounds or give medicines in some cases. Helping with the maintenance and cleaning of the house. Also you have to take care of the vegetable garden.

We are located in one of the most beautiful Natural Parks in Spain, Sierra de Grazalema, in Cádiz. 20 minutes away from Ronda, 1 hour away from Jerez and 1'5 h away from the coast. Great place for hiking, climbing and enjoying nature.

I spent three amazing months in the hills of Alora with Veronica and Axel. They were such kind hosts and took me in straight after the lockdown which I was very grateful for as it was incredible to be able to be in the countryside after three months stuck in a flat in Madrid. They live in a beautiful house surrounded by mountains and reached to by… read more dirt tracks. I brought my bike with me and loved exploring the area and being able to explore further by going to the train station by bike which took around 35 mins.
It was probably the best workaway experience I’ve had, with a great balance of work life and time to relax and explore. I helped with the dogs; walking and feeding them, giving medicine, as well as feeding the cats and sometimes helping with the donkeys and horse. It was so nice to be surrounded by so many animals, I always felt I had company and miss having them around me now. Veronica gave me lots of advice about the animals and by the end I felt much more confident with them and I understood their personalities and how to avoid any problems. There was also help needed around the house such as watering plants and cleaning the house, or any other task you could come up with. But after the work I always got my days off to be able to explore the nearby area and spend time in Malaga on the beach and also a trip to Tarifa which was amazing.
Axel and Veronica were very thoughtful, understanding and caring hosts, always providing great food, and sharing lots of parts of their life with me, such as meeting many of their neighbours and friends which was always a funny experience with lots of laughter (thanks to Andy for all his wonderful meals and great times at his house). To an amazing motorbike ride with Axel passing the lakes nearby and yoga classes from Veronica. They included me a lot and I felt part of their family. I could practice lots of Spanish with Veronica and also learnt a few German words from Axel so this is also a great place to go if you are interested in learning Spanish or German. They were open to me asking if I could go away specific days which I was really grateful for as I managed to see some of my friends in Malaga, and then I could return the favour and help them when they wanted to go away, I really appreciated this balance. I had a lovely room to myself and later even got to try sleeping in their caravan which felt like such an adventure, I loved it.
