Tranquility. Silence. Space. Nature everywhere. Amazing sunsets. Bright stars.
When we decided to leave the Netherlands to come to this magic piece of land in Portugal, we came charmed by this rural atmosphere that helps us breathe better, both in a concrete as in a metaphoric way. We are open to receive more people to share this sensation with us – and also lots of hard work. Because to live the dream we have to work – hard! – to make it happen!
We live in an old farm that borders natural park Serra de São Mamede. The landscape is really amazing, as you can imagine. We grow fruit trees on a large terrain with grazing lands, olive trees, and cork and holm oaks. There is also a stream that flows into a beautiful small lake in which turtles and fish live (sometimes, an otter comes to visit)! There are several cats, dogs, donkeys, sheep and chickens walking around on our quinta, and almost 60 species of birds are counted on our skies every year.
On our terrain there are a few different holiday homes and 3 rental caravans. It is also possible to camp on our small-scale camping or our natural camping terrain. In our 25 hectares farm, 1.25 hectares are dedicated to the camping site.
Everything related to the campsite is done and will continue to be done by us: receiving guests, organizing reservations, cleaning bathrooms, dealing with marketing and finances etc. Sometimes we have to be so focused on trying to make the camping thrive that we feel we are leaving our “home” behind and we wish very much to have the help of like-minded people to stop doing that. That's where you come in!
Sustainable entrepreneuring: we have always found the environment and a balanced society very important. This is the main reason why we invest in environmentally friendly methods and renewable resources to run our camping in a sustainable manner. We are advocates of sustainable and responsible entrepreneuring and try to do this in our own quinta. For example, electricity is also generated by solar panels, the (drinking) water comes from our own water wells and we’ve been planting organic gardens, olive trees, cork oaks...Tipos de ayuda y oportunidades de aprendizaje

Apart from providing lodging, as explained above, we want to help you with 80 euros every week so you can buy your own groceries. We do not have the habit to eat together as a routine, so you would have to cook for yourself. (Please let us know if you are a great cook and we can think of alternative arrangements!). Of course, it will be our pleasure to invite you once in a while to have a meal and a drink with us, and we can drive you to the market so you can buy your groceries.
And you can help yourself of our fruits and fresh eggs!
Of course, the main benefit of being here is the lifestyle and the experience itself. Apart from the very calm atmosphere of rural Alentejo, that you’ll be able to enjoy everyday, you’ll be very near medieval towns, megalithic monuments, roman ruins, nature trails perfect to hike and bike...
Characteristic of Alentejo are the white houses with yellow or blue stripes and the typical windmills that you can see here and there. Unique are also the charming white villages that suddenly emerge from the vast fields. Castelo de Vide, Marvão and Portalegre are just a few examples of the very close villages and cities that you can visit during your stay in Alentejo, Portugal.
The farm itself is perfect to spend your free time, walking among nature, reading a book by the lake, interacting with our animals, having a coffe with the guests and, in the hot months, enjoying our small pool. Do note that it’s not a place fit for party people, but it’s really ideal for peaceful nature lovers. Some of the guests are staying with us for months in a row, what turns our farm into kind of a friendly and easygoing neighborhood of independent but like-minded people. For the moment, we are a bunch of dutch people and, of course, the guests that come and go from all over Europe - many of them portuguese, many of them our friends already.El anfitrión ofrece una paga acorde al salario mínimo

NB!
For the months of June, July and August 2024, we are mainly looking for a person who can help us with cleaning the accommodations and secondarily help with gardening work.
You will help 24 hours per week (we can negociate how to distribute your weekly hours, so you can, let’s say, avoid gardening when it’s raining, or, for example, not do three days in a row to make time for yourself and visit the amazing attractions of this region – let’s find togheter a balance that is fair for both sides).
Please, do know that even though we do respect people’s individuality and need of free time, this is also a deal: we do expect things to be done in a certain way and we do expect a professional attitude regarding the quality of the tasks being done. Come to our quinta if, added to your love for nature, traveling and alternative living, you find pride and pleasure in your work and understand that the help we need is for real.
We assure you that we will fulfill our part of the deal and that, if you decide to come, you will have lots of good moments to enjoy our beloved farm and the Serra de Sao Mamede Natural Park, within which our Quinta, with camping site, is located.Idiomas hablados

We have 2 rental caravans available on our campsite. You will stay in 1 of these 2 rental caravans. For water (shower and toilet) you can use the nearby sanitary room on our campsite. The rental caravans have a good, spacious bed, mini kitchen, heating, sitting area (inside and outside) and wooden veranda.
Alternatively, if you have your own caravan, motorhome, van, you are very welcome to stay in our campground and use all of it’s infraestructure. In this case, we can hook you up to electricity (at our expense).
You keep your places clean yourself. Towels, bed linen and kitchen linen can be provided by us and are washed by yourself (at our expense).Algo más...
If you have your own car, know that the place is very easy to reach, with paved road access.
But we are close enough to the nearest village (with markets, restaurants, banks, drugstores) for you to reach it after a pleasant 5 km walk.
We can also, sometimes, borrow you a bike or give you a lift to other nearby cities, as well as pick you up in the bus station when you arrive.
If our proposal makes sense to you, and if you’re an open minded person with a cheery disposition looking for a nice place to live and work, write to us and let’s talk! We hope you will enjoy peace, space and nature in the beautiful environment of our quinta.Un poco más de información
