  • Description

    Hi there, Aloha!

    My name is Sonia, and I run an Ashram, Academy & Healing Center, located in the tropical beach town of Varkala, Kerala, Southwest India.

    Our Ashram is a center of healing, education and peace. Workawayers can expect to experience inner growth and meaningful connection while participating in this spiritual environment.

    Qualities we look for in applicants: commitment, positivity, honesty, creativity, motivation and authenticity.
    We love people who can align with the higher purpose of our Ashram and who can form heart connections with the work that they perform. The environment of our Ashram thrives when everyone is cooperating and working together in harmony.

    The Ashram specializes in healing feminine energy and often works with people who find themselves in life changing moments. We are led by visionary, Master healer Sonia, who is certified as a Reiki Master, yoga teacher, massage therapist, massage instructor and aqua-floating therapist. She also works as an astrologer, numerologist, tarot reader, life coach, counselor, motivational speaker and writer. Sometimes she does oriental/belly dance and yoga original performances.

    The project includes 4 different areas, Teaching, Healing, Accommodation and occasionally Kerala Guided Trips.
    We offer a wide range of events, courses and therapies. Some examples include:
    Retreats: Retreats for Women, Yoga Retreats, Medicine Wheel Retreats
    Courses: Massage Therapy Courses
    Workshops: Reiki levels 1, 2, 3 and Master Level, Life Changing Seminar, Sacred Feminine Workshop.
    Readings: Numerology, Astrology (Mayan, Chinese, Karmic and Western) and Tarot.
    Private Sessions: Counseling, Life Coaching and Women's Coaching.
    Therapies: Reiki Distant Healing and in Presence Aqua-Floating and massage.

    THINGS WE ARE LEARNING MORE ABOUT: Codependency and love addiction recovery, Shamanism practices and/or Shamanic Course, Tantra, Vipassana Meditation, Raw food diet and meal prep, Aqua-Floating and Watsu therapies, Permaculture, Familiar Constellations.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    We are located in a Hindu area with several temples. There is Durga & Kali Temple 10 minutes walking from here and a 2000 years old temple 5 minutes by rickshaw.
    We call Varkala the Varanasi of the South. I have lived here for 7 years, and I can assure you, this is a Vortex- an amazing energetic, spiritually powerful place.

    There is yoga and Ayurveda everywhere. You can benefit from ayurvedic massages and treatments, as well as courses.

    There are several beaches along the coast, the main beach, Papanasam Beach is 15 minutes walking from our place, and Black Beach and Oddayam Beach 20 minutes walking and Kappil Beach 1h walking through the cliffs.
    On the main beach you can find sun umbrellas, Surf and Body Boards for renting and well as Stand Up Paddling boards.
    You can also make a jump with paragliding with a professional from the cliff.

    The backwaters are 15 minutes from here by rickshaw and it’s a magical place where you can go on canoe trip to the Golden Island and stop to watch the sunset in a non-touristic beach.

    In the early morning time, you can visit the fishermen on the beach and the 2 local vegetable and fish markets, where you can find some organic local fruits and vegetables.

    This beach is 20 minutes by rickshaw from here and it’s a gorgeous beach with the sea and backwaters. An alternative if you are ready to walk, it's about 1h of amazing walk through the cliffs where you see the infinite Arabian Sea, the palm trees and nature, the local people, it's just breathtaking, I highly recommend this beach.

    There are the touristic shops on the cliff with all kinds of offers and you can also visit the local shops in Varkala town, 10 minutes by rickshaw from here. We're especially fond of a Tibetan crystal shop on the cliff!

    There are the touristic restaurants on the cliff with all kinds of offers and many vegetarian options and you can also visit the local restaurants and chai shops in Varkala town and here around the cliff. There is wi-fi in almost every restaurant.

    Varkala Beach is a place visited by people from all around the world, and most of them, in some way, are connected or curious about alternative areas, an alternative life style, yoga people, therapists, teachers, musicians, etc. The high season time is between October and April and the top is January to March.

    Tell you about the culture in Kerala;
    A guided walk through the Cliffs (if you stay long enough);
    Take you to the Sacred Spring on the Cliff;
    Take you for a puja (spiritual ceremony) at Durga Temple.
