We live off-grid on the banks of the Nile, developing our small farm and working on a number of community projects to create positive environmental impact. We are research scientists, white water kayakers, and parents to our new baby boy.

Living in rural Uganda- there is so much culture to experience! Our work involves community interaction and a lot of learning about local lifestyles. It also encourages creative thought around how to improve these for sustainable environmental and social outcomes. The farm is a creative garden for all of us to develop and learn from, and enjoy! There is also the river Nile in our front garden, so plenty of opportunity for some time on the water too.
We are developing a number of projects both on and off our farm. We are creating a demonstration farm for sustainable agricultural management to serve as a practical demonstration to others in our community. Within the community we are developing a riverbank restoration project with tree planting and beekeeping, addressing issues of unsustainable firewood use and working to improve child and adult literacy for improved livelihood options thtough our village library. We are looking for volunteers to help us on some or all of our projects, through hands-on involvement, sharing of ideas and research.

Sleeping in a canvas tent with bed, in the garden. We have a very open, outdoor style of living! There is cold running water in the outdoor shower, a long-drop outdoor toilet, a shaded outdoor living room, a storeroom and a small outdoor kitchen.
Time off can be spent doing white water kayaking/rafting/SUP on the river, safaris further afield. Public transport is local motorbikes or minibuses. We work from home so need to spend part of our day on our laptops. The rest of the time we're working on our community projects and home farm, and enjoying the river and our environment!
