    Description

This is a 13 acre (5.1 ha) property in Robinson, west of Albany. It is a new property for us so we are currently planting trees to re-vegetate the property and create a biodiversity corridor in a seasonal wetland area. We have an extensive home orchard and several vegetable gardens. Our animals include chickens, geese, ducks and horses as well as rapidly increasing herd of milking goats. We like having help for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours late afternoon - generally coinciding with feeding animals and milking/bottle feeding times. You can learn to make goats cheese and cook cakes and cheeses with goats milk. I can also teach you seed saving and plant propagation. Furthermore, you can cuddle and bottle feed our growing herd of miniature goats. Accommodation is in a small building away from the house yet we still cook and eat together.
We are happy to help with learning English and enjoy sharing our knowledge of organic gardening and permaculture. Close by are beautiful beaches and not far away are stunning maintain ranges and forests of tall trees. We have a lot of native bird life on the property as well as other native animals. Pets include a dog and two cats, a horse, geese, ducks, chickens and milking goats, full size and miniature, galore.

Glen is a horseman, writer and historian. Caralyn's background is teaching literacy, environmental education, organic gardening and permaculture. Both of us can provide English learning support, however as Glen is a little hard of hearing he struggles with strong accents, particularly French. Caralyn is happy to share her animal husbandry, milking goats and bottle feeding kids, organic gardening and eco-friendly knowledge and living ideas.

    Help

Help varies a little with the seasons - there is more garden projects in spring and autumn. Spring is kidding season and summer is more about weaning kids, milking goats and turning goats milk into delicious cheeses and other products. All year round activities are help in the house including food preparation and help with animal feeding.

We have a large room separate from the house and a little caravan for sleeping in. Meals can be separate or shared or a combination of both.

    What else ...

Caralyn has chemical and other sensitivities so it is strictly non-smoking. Helpers also can't use aerosols, perfumes or scented products around Caralyn. There are lovely walks in the area including walking trails along Frenchman's Bay Road and in to Albany. If you have your own vehicle, there are numerous beaches as well as scenic drives e.g. to Denmark.
