Urgent Workaway needed from end of September onwards

    Hello there!

We are a young family that are running a smallholding in a lovely village in the Chilterns.

In addition to me, my husband and daughter, we have a Border Collie (Jasmine) and two cats (Leila & Sawsan).

We have 4 acres of land and exciting times ahead! Currently we have 30 chickens, a polytunnel, a no-dig permaculture garden and an orchard.

We love cooking and make a wide range of organic food (kombucha, breads, kimchi, jams, butter, yoghurt, kefir, herbal tea/medicines, herbal ointments, pasta) and would be delighted to share tips on the both the garden and cooking with you. We like to use our own produce as much as possible and also love to forage from the local countryside.

The surrounding area is beautiful and there are lovely walks (a stones throw away!), villages and other things to do. London is also easily accessible via a 40 min train.

We started the garden last year and need help with the seedlings, planting, composting, weeding and harvesting. We are growing a wide range of fruit and veg (beans, peas, tomatoes, chilli, herbs, potatoes, cucumber, salad, aubergines, corn...). For those who enjoy cooking, an extra pair of hands in the kitchen is always appreciated!

Depending on the time of year, there will be harvesting in the orchard to be done, we have cherry, apple, pear, quince, plum and various nut trees. We also love to forage in the surrounding area (hazelnuts, wild garlic, blackberries, elderflower, sloe, medicinal plants).

I am also interested in medicinal herbs and would be happy to show you how to make you own medicinal remedies (tinctures, oils, ointments, remedies, teas).

We have a number of adult chickens and are rearing chicks (11 new arrivals last week!). We have a plentiful supply of delicious eggs and are intending on rearing for meat in the next few months.

My husband and I work during the week and I also take care of of our toddler, India, after work, so we only have time after work and at the weekend to maintain everything. We would love an extra (or a few!) pair of hands to help with the garden, orchard and the chickens.

You will have your own accommodation with a kitchen to enjoy our local produce. We love to cook with our own produce and will teach you anything you would like to make your own organic products such as bread, butter, yogurt, kombucha, marmalade etc...We will share our meals with you and you will also be able to self cater if you like.

We look forward to having you with us very soon!
