Description
Hola/Namaste.. we have 2 small organic farms on the island of La Palma , in the Canarys....and after spending 20 years travelling and sailing the world we made a base for our family here 8 years ago.
It has been a great learning experience for us working with the local agriculture and strong volcanic environment.
It is very quiet and peaceful, and our location would suit those that are also at peace with themselves.
We are happy to host intelligent ,motivated, activated, artistic people.... with open minds and hearts .....
Travelers, Gypsies, Pirates, Freaks ..you know who you are!
We live a very simple life and value our privacy... ,watching the kids grow, planning our next adventures, and creating our version of the truth!
Separate to the farms we have a cave on the coast , a small house in a neighboring village and some separate land with caves for those that need alone time! ...all of these projects require energy...so im sure we can find you a place and a job on our North Western side of the island.
We speak english and spanish..and are vegetarian .and dont encourage drinking or smoking.
Please note the weather in summer is hot and dry..and during winter it can be cold and wet! so bring appropriate clothing, bedding etc... While we try to welcome and accomodate everyone, we humbly reserve the right to ask the worker to leave if their attitude is not in harmony with the vision we hold for the land ...
However you are most welcome to come and enjoy the fruits of this beautiful island and work with us to co-create a little piece of paradise.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are from New Zealand and Argentina ,our family has traveled for years and has been in almost half the countries of the world..
Im my opinion travel is all about assimilation.. Before the days of guidebooks, internet, return air tickets and pre-booked accomodation.. the traveler set out seeking adventure, friendship and experience ..i was lucky enough to catch some of these times ..5 years sailing in the pacific, many years cycling in asia, 10 years in india. time in the jungles of south america..and plains of Africa, .many festivals , gatherings on every continent... and networking with free/like minded individuals on my trail....i hope we can impart some of our experiences and encourage you to set your sights high, and help you find the keys to attain them....Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
on the farm/ fincas there is lots of work to do ..weeding , composting and tending the fruit trees.. building stone walls ,excavating caves, working in the vegetable garden and general beautification ...in autumn harvesting fruits and preserving/ dehydrating etc... there are always dishes, and help with the kids is appreciated ... we prefer to host people who can be as independent as much as possible, giving you a task for the day or week and you taking your time to do it, the accommodation is simple in cottages or big tents, with the use of an outside bathroom and laundry ...
food is simple and nutricious and will be arranged depending on each situation ... it is best to come for 5 days minimum . the work each day depends on the weather, location etc .. but at about 4 to 5 hours in the morning this gives you enough time to relax in the hammock, read a book stare at the sea or stars and enjoy some peace and quiet...or visit our neighbours....
if you wish to stay with us please only contact us when you are on the island and not before.. spontanaity is an art and we dont like to pre-plan too much. Email me a day or 2 in advance....then we can the arrange transport etc..
also we have had many people stay over the years..and ask them not to leave comments ..as we encourage the Great Mystry and dont want to spoil the surprise!Languages spoken

What else ...
La Palma has a great network of walking tracks ..which go past our house and connect with the whole island ,there is a good bus service...so adventure and exploration is a must.. we live 1 hour walk from the nearest bus stop and shops, and 1 hr from 3 local restaurants , hitchhiking is good on the island , there is also a cool hippy village 30 minutes walk down the hill... and there are some lovely quiet beaches and wild mountain and forest nearby, for nature lovers this is paradise for people from Babylon its a hell, its up to you to choose your own reality .. and live with the consequences of your decisions. La Palma is ours.
