Description
This time of year, we're usually looking for help with a range of projects include gardening, pruning raspberry and blueberry bushes, trail maintenance, harvesting and preserving tomatoes and apples, moving and stacking firewood, making compost, etc.
In exchange for your help, we offer comfortable private accommodation, practical hands-on training in compost and compost "tea" production - and an opportunity to learn about some of India's traditional Vedic practices that help improve soil fertility and produce healthy and resilient plants.
The Tsolum River's just across the road and there are several beautiful shaded trails there and in the nearby forests.Types of help and learning opportunities

Here in the Comox Valley, there's a thriving & diverse agricultural community and weekly farmers markets. The I-Hos Gallery, an initiative of the K'ómoks First Nation, is open to the public and has on display a collection of masks, prints, jewelry and wood carvings from over 50 talented First Nation artists.
We have lots of interesting stories and photos to share that highlight the areas, cultures, traditional farming practices and people we work with in India - and we can help you make connections with organic farms, tea gardens, NGO's and other kindred spirits in Assam. We're particularly interested in introducing people from the Indian diaspora to some of the "movers and shakers" in the northeast!Help
There are always things to do at main house and in the workshop. This might include interior and exterior painting, and help with a few carpentry tasks - basic carpentry skills would definitely be an asset. And if you enjoy cooking, that'd be an added bonus - it's harvest time!

The Comox Valley is located on the east side of Vancouver Island - about a 5 hour journey from the city of Vancouver (including a 1 3/4 hour long ferry ride!). There are several nearby islands also accessible by ferry, and lots of walking, bike-riding and hiking trails.
We're a 5 minute walk from the beautiful Tsolum River where you can cool off in the summer and watch the spawning salmon in the fall - and a 40 minute drive from Mount Washington, Strathcona Park and Paradise Meadows which provide a number of outdoor recreational opportunities.A little more information
