We are a family run horse ranch and country estate very close to the capital of Croatia. We host week long horse riding trails for paying customers/riders from all over the world.
First and foremost, we are looking for a horse-riding trail guide (male or female or couples) to take our guests through 5 days of trail riding around our ranch along marked and semi marked trails going through forests and over meadows, fields and creeks usually in groups of 8 guests or less. Our season starts end of April and lasts until the beginning of October, with a longer break during July up to mid August. We work one week on, one week off, meaning that every other week we do not have guests at the ranch. During non-working weeks we train the horses, prepare the facilities and equipment, do general farm work (hay picking, maintenance of the orchards and vineyard etc.) and general maintenance work (clearing and maintaining the trails, fixing fences, painting houses, other small repairs etc.). Our ranch spans over 30 hectares, we have 17 horses in our stables and several houses including a hotel, an apartment house, a guesthouse, a restaurant and so on.
We offer accommodation in a shared room (if other volunteers will be present at the same time), with a fully equipped bathroom and small kitchen. We also offer food in the way of insuring food supplies for own meal preparation. On most days during work weeks (when guests are staying at the ranch), meals are provided from our restaurant. A small financial compensation is also be available if conditions allow for it. Working hours for trail guides during weeks with paying customers might exceed 5 hours per day.
Helping with Tourists
We are looking for volunteers who are able to stay with us for a period of no less than 1 month, and preferably during the entire season. We would be most pleased with volunteers who are hard working and responsible, and who take their duties seriously as they would be accompanying paying customers and their work would mostly involve securing that all the guests are, first and foremost, safe and satisfied, as we take pride in our practice which has, so far, been to insure that the guests are happy and content at all times, missing nothing and wanting for nothing. This has proven a very rewarding approach to our work as we have received only very positive feedback form our customers with whom we also try to develop a friendly relationship. Therefore, our guides must also be very open, feel comfortable, easy and happy working with other people, calm and patient and be willing to cater to the guests' every need. Needles to say, our guides must have excellent horsemanship, be skillful riders and know their way around horses. Our guides must be able to speak good English. French, German and/or Swedish languages will also prove useful as most of our guests arrive from these countries, but this is not a requirement. A good sense of direction is very important as well.
Additionally, we are also looking for volunteers to help with general farm maintenance and repairs, like mowing lawns, painting houses, fixing fences and various other repairs. Applicants must be skillful with general farm tools and machinery (lawnmowers, chainsaws, weedwackers, and other tools), and must be able to stay with us for a period no less than 3 weeks.
If you find yourself anywhere in our description, please do not hesitate to contact us. Additional information (including visual representation of our estate) will be provided.
Rooms with bathroom and facilities, a common area, kitchen, terrace. Equipped with TV, WiFi, radio.
In their free time, the volunteers can spend time at and around the ranch, in near by villages and towns (one of which has thermal pools), forests and meadows, walking, riding bicycles etc. They are also welcome to take trips to the nearby capital Zagreb for sightseeing. Additional activities may be available in accordance with the owners on site.
