We are an Italian family of 6.
Our kids are 2 boys 15,16 and 19years old girl. Our eldest is 20th and already finished school!
I run a Culinary School, a charming B&B and work as an event planner in Venice.
My husband is an entrepreneur part of an historical Venetian family making art glass from 23 generations.
We live in the island of Lido just a few minutes from the beautiful Venice.
We live in a big Villa surrounded by a beautiful garden three minutes walk from the beach.
We are looking for someone smiling, trustworthy, energetic and patient to help with the two youngest kids after school (boys) and sister (19th years old)
We are a welcoming family, very open to other cultures and both, me and my husband love to travel( also with our kids )and we lived for almost 10 years in USA.

You will have chance to experience Italian lifestyle in a beautiful historical city. The majority of the day you will be free to explore the main city and all the island surrounding Venice. Also being part of our family you will have chance to learn about Italian cuisine because I hold many cooking class with foreign guest every week so if you like you can take part of this class learning at the same time the traditional Italian cooking having cultural exchange with the other guest of the class.
If you like you can also learn or improve your Italian talking with me and the two oldest children.
We will be happy to have someone looking forward this chance getting the most out of this experience, exploring the city, being positive and curious.
Aide
We need a mid-long term commitment (at least 2.5 months) to help our 3 younger kids with their studies (specially Math!)

Mainly we need big help every afternoon to organize our kids daily homework/studies.
3.30-7:30 pm

You will be free all day up to 3,30 pm when the youngest boy comes home.
The youngest boy (12) goes in Italian school. So you can help him with some simple English, Spanish homework and make sure he completes all the rest of his homework. If no homework are left you can play a board game to help his English or Spanish conversation skills.

The girl (18 years old, high school) needs to practice Math every day.

Nicolò needs some assistance with his Math homework as well
he really needs help to check and organize all his homework at the same time also needs to be encourage to do some of it by himself in order to stimulate some of self organizing skills .

You will be free from Friday evening until Monday at 3,30 pm to travel and visit around.

The main focus for us is to improve our boys' English, Spanish and Math skills and engage them with board games ecc... in order to keep them entertained and not have them always on video games or television.

ACCOMODATION AND MEALS

We offer an independent studio with your own kitchen.
We will offer pocket money for your food.
+
we offer also extra weekly pocket money because we need a serious constant commitment.

If you have any skill or special talent that you are happy to teach to our kids we will be happy too.

We offer a private room with double bed, small kitchenette and a private large bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi.

So you’re welcome to have breakfast/lunch/dinner on your room/garden if nice.

Venice is a unique city for it's art for it's museum , handcraft tradition and site seeing.
Also we are just one hour and an half away by train from treviso, Verona, Bologna and two hours and an half from Milan, Florence and just three hours and forty five minutes from Rome.

I came to this family hoping to have some positive impact on these kids’ lives 🤗 (Well some of them are young adults now 👍😄), and learn from this big loving family and the empowering entrepreneurship from Marika and Gianluca. I’m so happy and proud to say, I’ve achieved them all! And… read more surprisingly obtained so much more, and built life-long friendships with them all!

It was my first time tutoring 3 teenagers with all different personalities together, at first it was overwhelming and challenging to get trusted by them, which is quite normal because it takes time to get used to and trust someone new especially for kids. But deep down they are all very kind and genuine human being, once I realized I don’t have to be Canadian style “always nice”😅 and started to be my real self, show my real emotions, it’s easier to get along and work with them like a Champion team (We are 😎 They got 10 at many subjects 👏). I learned and respected their own unique style, so I used different methods helping each of them, which worked very well and I’m very happy and proud. But I have to say, sometimes the “mom card” is very helpful because the usual “nice & reasonable” style just don’t work sometimes😂, so shout out to Marika for the help on these times.🙏👍🤣

I can write millions of words when thinking about how special and personal memories and friendship I have created with this amazing family and each one of them, it always makes me cry. Since the beginning I tried my best to help them not only on the study but also listen to their stories (thanks for sharing with me!) and share my experiences and advice to help them be mentally stronger to face this complex world and reality. They are really like my younger brothers and sisters. It makes me cry and smile thinking about how beautiful hearts and souls they have and how they are wonderful at different things, and how bright and shining their future will be pursuing what they love and great at, with me always here, listening and cheering for them. 🤗✨👏

Thank you so much Marika and Gianluca for showing me how a loving and supportive mom and dad role with such a big family and responsibility look like. Especially for showing me how you can be a super professional and successful entrepreneur, but at the same time having so much kindness and love to people around you, this is absolutely incredible!👍👏 I learned so much about how to be a loving, kind and positive human being and leader just by witnessing their busy day to day life, and how they treat everyone everyday. But I have to say, your energy is unbelievable 👍👏 not everyone have that much energy like you! 😄👍 Sometimes watching Marika riding her bike rushing out to start her busy day to support this big family, it reminds me my mom working hard supporting me when I was little, so I try to be a big sister and take care of all of them and wrote her reports to let her know what her kids are going through, so she can understand them more, have less worries behind and focus more on the complicated work world. 👍💗🥰

I also built such precious and special bonds with Ura Maki (the two sweetest dogs in the world!! I love them so much!!) and everyone works in this family, this is truly a magical place and I love the positive kind loving energy here as well as the beautiful flowers, garden and food.

I was able to make so many new friends from all over the world thanks to the Workaway app, by looking for and messaging nearby workawayers. I traveled so many cities Florence, Rome, Sicily, Verona, Bologna, Padua, Treviso, Ferrara, Vincenzo… most of them you can go and come back in one day, with very cheap train/flight/bus tickets!

This has been one of the best experiences in my life. I spent one academic year (around eight months from october 2021 to may 2022) with this wonderful family. They are always so kind and welcoming with everyone so I felt included since the first day, also by Ura and Maki, the two dogs who were always happy to greet me on the door. However I was… read more also able to have as much independent life as I wanted. They live in a beautiful Villa in Lido di Venecia with a fantastic garden and full of energy and happiness. I was never getting bored there.

The days with them were as they said. I was having the mornings free to get lost in the amazing Venice and then after lunch I was teaching (maths, physics, science) and helping the kids with their homeworks in general. Then we used to have a delicious dinner together. I could always feel the love Marika and Gianluca were giving to their children and that was another of the things that made me feel at home.

I must say that even if I was the one who was suppoused to teach, I feel like I was the one who learnt the most. For me, having the opportunity to spend all that time with them was a gift. The three of them has differents personalities and they are still developing into the adults they will be. I am sure they will become exceptional, they already are. They are really well educated, always grateful and kind but they are still teenagers so I was having to balance sometimes. It was helpful to be open and empathize with how they felt. Nicolò and Jacopo are very creative and it’s good to encourage them with that. Allegra is very mature and she was always available to help me. All of them are better at maths than what they think, they need to be motivated and develope more academic self-confidence to not give up, to get good grades.

There are infinite more things I could tell about, but nothing would be comparable to being able to join this aventure, to spend time with this lovely family. This year has become one of the most important of my life. I will always be grateful to have found this second family on my way. Thank you so much to open me your home and let me know all of you, also to give me the opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Venice is a city to be loved. I couldn't have imagined a better place.

It was a pleasure to meet you, I wish you always the best and see all of you soon. Lots of love, forever.
