Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers enjoy great company staying with us. Lots of opportunities to explore all that our beautiful area has to offer. Many people staying enjoy the unique experience of our local culture and accompany us to many local events/ social gatherings. Lovely beaches just minutes away, surfboards available. We work with our helpers and they gain the benefit of learning about our NZ farming and horticultural systems. Everyday there is something different happening. Out on the farm with the animals, citrus orchard or gardens. We are passionate about our healthy farming environment and have several environmental projects happening at present on the farm around our streams and river.
Workers work from 7.30-8am till 12.30pm generally.Help
We are a farming couple living just north of Tolaga Bay on the East Coast. Just minutes from beautiful beaches and the Tolaga Bay township. We have an intensive farming operation. Sheep, cattle, cropping ( we grow maize, sweetcorn and squash pumpkins) and a citrus orchard (oranges and mandarins). Lovely modern accomodation with ensuite. Wifi available. Farm cooked meals plus great hospitality is our speciality! We have enjoyed meeting people from all over the world for many years, and have made many lifelong friendships.
Help is mostly around our house and large gardens with a self sufficient vegetable garden. We also operate a large lamb rearing operation , which is enjoyable for our guests to see from July to September. Staying with us on our busy farm is always interesting and enjoyable. There is always lots of different farming and orchard activities to experience and observe throughout the year.
During spare time we encourage our Workawayers to explore our area. Tolaga Bay is a small seaside community with about 1000 residents. We have all the basic amenities there. Food shops, petrol station, school etc. We have the longest wharf in the southern hemisphere and a foodtruck that does great coffee too. Also some great picturesque seaside walks
