    Description

Hello ! We are Marcello, Piero and Carlotta and we live together in Sommo Ripola, a small stone village near Licciana Nardi, in Lunigiana, with eleven hectares of land among chestnut groves, woods and olive groves. The house we live in is the result of the renovation works carried out by a group of young people who, 5 years ago, created a project aimed at revitalizing this small village that was uninhabited for a long time. Today it is the 3 of us who are reaping the fruits of this effort, linked by friendship and guided by principles of eco-sustainability with a view to self-production and work sharing. The economy of the house is mixed: we all carry out activities outside that allow us a personal income, part of which flows into the common fund that we use to face the expenses of the house which include rent, bills, food, vegetable garden, animals, etc. . To date, the only profitable activity we carry out together is the collection of chestnuts. Over time we would like to be able to increase the production of the garden to put our products on the local market. The oil that we are able to produce slightly exceeds the annual needs of the house.

Ciao !

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The contribution we appreciate does not require special skills, as energy and goodwill are within everyone's reach. We offer board and lodging in exchange for the availability to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week (the tasks to be performed vary according to the time of year, the projects in progress and the attitudes of the guests). From a human point of view, we make our knowledge and experiences available to confront and grow together, convinced that a new point of view can always offer interesting ideas.

The activities we carry out here concern the ordinary maintenance of the house, the preparation of meals, the collection of wood (which is used to power the stove we use for cooking, heat the water in the bathroom and, in winter, heat the rooms in general), the care of animals and gardens.
We cook and eat together. Our diet is mainly vegetarian (as we rarely buy meat from the local butcher), and local, as it is full of goodness from the gardens we cultivate, eggs from our beloved hens and self-produced olive oil. We like to make our own bread and spoil ourselves with some homemade desserts.
We currently have two dogs, two cats, six chickens and a rooster and eleven ducks ... all eager for attention and lovers of cuddles.
In the gardens we are experimenting with various cultivation techniques that obviously do not involve the use of pesticides, herbicides or chemical wounders.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The main house consists of a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Then there are other rooms: two in the basement, one obtained from a former dryer, one above the barn and another one obtained from the attic of the workshop. There is also the possibility, during the summer, to camp in the olive groves.
Our guests can therefore have a private room and share the other spaces with us.

  • What else ...

    What else ...
