  Hello everyone, my name is Alba, I am Spanish and I have lived in Turrialba area for a few years where I started a permaculture project in the mountains. Now I live here with my baby girl , born in October 2022 , my dogs, cat and Chickens;-)

  This is a project born with the mission of learnning the transition to a more selfsufficient and sustainable life in nature with a vision of abundance and prosperity , enough for a small family and maybe a small community that could live here in the future. We plan to grow in that direction through cultivating most of our food, and managing our wastes in a natural and much more conscious way , through agroecological and permaculture thechniques and cultivating an agroforestry system to produce our crops combined with timber and other species to get natural construction materials .
  
  Till now I have been focused in fixing my small cabin, building another one for rent , constructing a spring water captation reservoir , a workshop building with a comunal kitchen, a cabin where to host volunteers and other colaborators for the project and a terrace type greengardens and agroforestry área.
  
  We live here with no electricity and barely signal arroud the farm( almost non). wich is something that I enjoy very much since it keep us focused and connected to each other as well as a very calm vibe arround. However we are now studying the options to bring some type of power to the property.
  
  ** ( There is a neighbour up the road offering laundry, wifi and electricity services to thouse that need It . 600m up the road from the farm . )
  
  We like to keep a simple life, enjoy to meet people from other cultures and would enjoy developing this space with the touch and vision of people that can share their knowledge and experiences while leaving here their beautiful footprint. The vision is to have a small community stablished here in the future to share the spaces and development responsabilities .

  SOME THINGS TO DO WHILE HERE:
  
  The area is an inland paradise for those who love nature and beeing close to the authentic rural life. This area is the craddle of rafting in the country, beeing close to the Pacuare river and also the door to a very beautiful and unexplored area of the Chirripó mountains, where the Cabécar indigenous culture inhabits.
  Hiking the active Turrialba Volcano
  Go hiking arround and explore the numerous rivers on the area
  Birdwatching ( this is a very rich area of the country for this activity)
  
  Enjoy your time in the library, as I have many books and manuals of interest in sustainable matters, as other type of readdings and novels that I lend to volunteers.

  Therefore I am looking for ONE Workawayer WITH EXPERIENCE in organic farming , building and off-grid living, if possible, willing to STAY LONG TERM inmerse in nature , being the one in charge or coordinating the groups of volunteers, helping with the logistics and planning the weekly tasks along with me .( We carry out an educational volunteer program since September 2021. Hosting from 4 to 6 volunteers at the time that we currently receive from other platforms )
  
  ***I would like to receive a responsable, reliable and open minded person with good communication skills and willing to be leading the group tasks that speaks good English .(Spanish would be a bonus .)
  Minimum of 6 months stay . Ideally a year. With one month trial period.***
  
  Farm Tasks Will be carried out with the other volunteers from Monday to Friday for about 5 hours a day in tasks mainly of:
  
  -Improvement and maintenance of the greengarden área and all its elements. ( mostly fixing beds + steps, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, spraying liquid mountain microorganisms).
  -prepearing the beds for cultivating and planting .
  - Feeding the chikens, cleanning and careing for the chicken coop.
  -arrangements in the cabins ...(Fixing details, cleaning)
  -maintenance of trails. (Cleaning, weeding)
  -improvement of the common área and kitchen ( organizing, barnishing...etc)
  - Organize and tidy workshop, cleanning of tools
  -preparation of food and cleanning of the kitchen and comunal áreas ... etc.
  -help with shopping in town once a week to get our supplies and fruits & veggies at farmers market... etc.
  -Domestic help around common áreas and volunteers cabin.
  
  The organization of a normal day on the Finca is more or less the following:
  
  We all meet up at 6:30 am in the common Kitchen to prepare breakfast together and organize our day.
  After this we start our daily tasks at 8 am untill 1:00 pm when we finish for lunch. Having a break for coffee/tea of about 30 min arround 10 am. Lunch is prepared taking turns, after which we clean and tidy the kitchen together
  
  Requirements:
  -Not drug or alcohol abuse .
  -Valid medical insurance in Costa Rica -Preferably with drivers license. ( Not necessary)

  Alojamiento

  I offer the person staying to help in this field a space at the volunteers cabin where he/she will share with another 5-6 volunteers that carry out farm and maintenance work. The cabin has an exterior dry toilet and an exterior shower both overlooking the forest. As well as a front space with hammocks, chairs and a couch.
  
  The main 3 meals are included, and shall be mostly vegetarian. Please let me now of any special condition before your arrival.

  There is a few buses per day in the closest Town , about 1.8 km away, that will take you to the city of Turrialba, from where you can explore many of the previous options. We offer transportation options from and to the farm .
