This is a nursery school, kindergarten and first primary school based in the capital of Rwanda.
Sandra the school director created it in 2001 because she believed in a positive pedagogy for the little ones.
Today we welcome every week day 72 children and the school is run by 9 teachers and assistants, exclusively in French.
Help with Computers / internet
The school is based in Kigali. the teachers and the assistants are from the area so the children do. The volunteering will be a unique experience to spend daily life with Rwandans, exchange with them in French and will have opportunity to learn kinyarwanda and discover Kigali and the rest of the country.
In the evening there is a lot of sportive or social activities, it is very easy to meet people in Kigali.
We are looking for volunteer willing to share their knowledge in french pedagogy program or experience in teaching the youngest in French.
There are 5 different levels, each of them has a teacher and an assistant but further help to develop the cursus, teach new activities to the children would be most welcomed.
Volunteering for the administration of the school (accountability, communication to parents, organisational support) would be as well a great help!
French, English and Kinyarwanda
Sandra will host the guest in her house. It is located a quiet and safe neighborhood called Kibagabaga. Kibagabaga is properly deserved with food stores and bars. The house is fully furnished (including microwave, washing machine...) and it is comprised of 3 bedrooms, 2 might be busy by Sandra or a friend of hers and one is available for the volunteer. Sandra, the school director, and her husband who is from France are now in Niger but they travel from time to time to Rwanda, so you might have the house for yourself. There is a guard who is taking care of the garden and can help for the shopping.
The volunteer will eat lunch at school and will receive allowance for the evening. There are plenty of restaurants or people willing to cook for you in Kigali.
