    Description

We are a half-acre homestead and micro-farm in Northern New Mexico. Our property backs up to hundreds of acres of beautiful mesas and red stone arroyos, perfect for hiking and playing in seasonal streams. We are 40 minutes from Santa Fe, 30 from Las Vegas and within 10 minutes of Villanueva State Park. Crops we enjoy growing include garlic, oyster mushrooms, tomatoes, corn, lettuce, kale, chard, string beans, radish, medicinal plants, sunflower sprouts, amaranth and many more favorites that include native seeds and other experiments! We follow permaculture principles and have seen the land thrive as a result.

Accommodations include a small, renovated casita with sleeping loft and kitchenette. Outhouse available, with shared bathroom, shower, and laundry in main house. Vegan meals will be prepared and eaten communally.

Work is year-round with construction and greenhouse plantings continuing through the winter in addition to on-going medicinal preparations.

We are currently seeking a long-term exchange though we are open to short term ones as well. We are looking for help getting the property up and running again after our hiatus from growing. This includes weeding, fertilizing, completing our earthen barn as well as some household duties.

We are so grateful to have extra helping hands to make the work lighter and to learn about others and their lives. We love spending time with our land and hope you do too. Welcome!

Travellers will learn what its like to live on a farm in rural Northern New Mexico. They will see firsthand the principles used to make farming easier in a part of the world that receives very little rainfall. Hopefully they will fall in love with one of New Mexico's natural resources, the breath-taking beauty of the skies and land!
