Update: Samsara Festival takes place at our farm 3-11 August. We are looking for volunteers who are ready to be part of this week-long celebration of the free spirit, love, peace. The Festival is a significant event in the life of our animal shelter; it helps us to gain recognition for the sanctuary, introduce the place to the nature-lover public. The preparations for the Festival begin in the middle of July such as building stages, cafe house, installation arts, new fences for the animals, etc. During the Festival we are looking for volunteers who could help us in logistics, working in the cafe house or cooking at the Festival Kitchen. During this period (15th July - 11th August) we cannot guarantee that we will have enough room in the house for our volunteers, so they might sleep in tents. Please consider it before writing us!

We are a non-profit, charity organization run by volunteers. Our farm is located just 5 km from the beautiful lake Balaton. We rescue animals that have been abused, neglected, abandoned, bound for slaughter, injured or unwanted in any way and give them safety, rehabilitation and comfort in our open air lifetime sanctuary ranch. We take care of 15 horses, 4 calves, 1 donkey, 2 cats, 8 sheep, 40 goats, 1 dog. They live free and peacefully on our 40 acre sanctuary.

Our Workawayers will be able to experience the rural Hungary, a really unique and peaceful place. They will work with horses, goats, calves, sheep; these beautiful creatures who can teach so much to us:
Confidence - to be able to manage an animal of that size and ability.
Responsibility - to come out and care for the animals day in and day out and when you are sick or lazy, you cant just decide not to come in. They depend on you.
    The value of hard work.
Our Workawayers will take care of 40 crazy goats, which means that they will learn how to milk them, how to herd them and how to give them medicine when they need.

There are various tasks at the farm, like building fences, shelters or drinking-through for the horses. We are looking for volunteers who are motivated to work with rescued horses, help them to socialize with people. Our volunteers also need to take care of the goats: milk them every morning, give them water and keep an eye on them.

The minimum stay is 2 weeks.

We have a big family house where our volunteers can live in shared bedrooms (depends on the number of volunteers we have at the time) with a full-equipped kitchen and bathroom with hot water. Our volunteers can make their dish or meal in the big kitchen of the house and we buy the groceries.
Update: During Samsara Festival and during the two weeks preparations for the Festival (15th July - 11 August) we cannot guarantee that we will have enough room in the house for our volunteers, so they might sleep in tents. Please consider it before writing us!

Lake Balaton is located only 5 km from our ranch which is the largest lake in Central Europe, and one of the region's foremost tourist destinations. By cars it takes around 10 minutes to get to the Lake Balaton from our farm.
Usually we have 4-6 workawayers at the same time. At the evenings our volunteers can watch movies in our little home cinema.
