    Description

Spend some time with our family on a farm in country Australia - about 3.5 east of Melbourne!

We don't mind if you come as an individual or couple to enjoy a stay with us including all meals and accommodation - you get your own self contained accommodation!

We have three young children (9, 7 & 5) so there is plenty of interacting with them - and they are fun! The farm is a lovely old farm in eastern Victoria, about 3.5 hours drive from Melbourne.

On the farm we have cows, sheep, a miniature horse and some chickens . It's a lovely place to live and also keeps us very busy alongside our other work commitments. Our Workaway volunteers help us keep on top of things around the house, farm and in the garden , whilst enjoying a a Aussie family country life.

We've lots of different things you can do, it can depend on the time of the year. We'll help you settle in and become familiar with the tasks and/or tools required, but just bear in mind that our own work commitments require you to work independently most of the time. Kim runs a some accommodation nearby, and has a home office so is around quite a bit, and enjoys having company for lunch!

An extra pair of hands to help out with the children, or general household duties is always valued. We also have a project to restore a large old retro trailer (see photo). If you are handy person with tools, and want to help us get fixed, we would love to hear from you. Other things could include working in the veggie garden, orchid, building a greenhouse, fixing broken stuff (kids just do that :) and a mixture of farming jobs i.e. fixing fences, moving cows, or tractor work - and it's winter now, so chopping wood is a regular task!

Staying at least 2 weeks is ideal, but get in touch if you're interested in a shorter or longer stay and we can consider this.

If you're catching public transport, you can travel to Bairnsdale by train (from Melbourne) and we will meet you at the station. From there it's just 25 minutes to our farm.

We are experienced, easy going people who genuinely value the mutual benefits that come from being Workaway hosts. We are active members of our local community, and are confident you will have a fun cultural experience with us!

    What else ...

We live just 15 minutes from the beautiful coastline known as 90 mile beach, and the popular tourist towns of Lakes Entrance and Metung. The Gippsland Lakes are just 4 minutes drive from the farm, where you can fish, kayak or join us for a boat ride some time (living where we do we've got watercraft activites covered!). If you like being outdoors then it's a beautiful area to spend time in. There's also great mountain bike tracks just 5 minutes from where we live and you're welcome to borrow our bikes.
