    Description

We are a couple, Esther (54) and Jan (65), originally Dutch but have lived in France for 22 years. Esther is an art restorer, textile artist and tutor. Jan is a car detailer and handyman in carpentry and building. We have 2 dogs ,and two cats and all live happily on a 300 year old property on the edge of the village of St Meard de Dronne.
Between us we have 5 children who are all grown up. We are a warm family who like to eat well and laugh a lot and we speak several languages. We are interested in other cultures and like travelling

    We have hosted several workawayers

We are both widely travelled and speak several languages. We also know the area very well to point out places of interest or take our guests on tours during weekends etc.
Esther also has a catering backround and likes to cook all kinds of foods, or learn new dishes from the guests.
Workawayers are also welcome to let us taste their traditional foods if they like.

    Help

We have a 300 year old property that is coming to the final stage of restauring, but there are quite a few little things to finish.
At the moment we are also converting our huge barn to build a large studio for textile courses. We host a group of textile students several times a year but the studio is in bad need of improvement.

We are looking for helpers who can clear spaces, go to the dump, help with some building, and also some gardening. Anyone with maconnerie or carpentry skills would be most welcome

Normally we both do everything ourselves, but Jan recently had heart surgery and I had a back operation so we could do with any help

If you don't have your own transport it is good to know that we live remote and our village does not have amenities. But we go shopping regularly in Riberac at 7 km and can take you there. We can also pick you up from trainstations in Angouleme, st Astier, Mussidan or Perigueux
