We are a dynamic farm project, comprising a research and training Centre and an organic farm retreat.
We are dedicated to researching, implementing and teaching Permaculture, sustainable agriculture and related "earth first" techniques combining Organic Gardening, Animal Rotation Systems, Natural Building and Community Development.
Our focus is on integrated and "whole systems" designs with the intention of inspiring others to design and live happy, healthy and fulfilling lives… for ourselves.. our communities.. and our beautiful planet.

There is so much to learn and do on a Permaculture project. From natural building, organic gardening, working with animals, making compost, working in the nursery and loads more!
English and Afrikaans
We have basic style wood cabins (Wendy Houses) with beds.
And shortly we will have cobbed cottages.
There's no better way to learn Permaculture than to be actively involved in a working growing project. Volunteers get a chance to learn natural building techniques, organic gardening, and working with animals and plants. Living is rustic and down to earth, with an outside kitchen, solar energy, compost toilet and a dam. There is so much to learn, and we love sharing ideas and learning from those who visit.
The Groot Marico is a farming area in the North West of South Africa with a tiny town on the main highway between Johannesburg and Botswana, so a perfect stop-over on your way to your next destination. The landscape is rolling hills and bushveld, with the wonderful Groot Marico River bringing some of the cleanest river water in South Africa.
We often go fishing or swimming in the River, or take a visit to "The Eye" - the River's source. There is a game reserve just around the corner, and a Buddhist retreat centre a bit further on. Local events include sound journey evenings, Groot Marico festivals, and wednesday evening dinners at the local pub/restaurant. Every month or so we organise cob building and permaculture weekend gatherings and parties for those wanting to get out of town and get a dose of farm life.
