    Description

    Bonjour!

    Living in maritime Brittany, we are the French guardians of a 3 hectares (nearly 8 acres) piece of land on the edge of a forest, 6 kilometers from the sea and the gorgeous beaches of the north coast. It is next to a small village called Lanvellec.

    Our land is a beautiful, Celtic green place surrounded by woodland, including two meadows, big granite boulders, a small lake with a place to make night fires, a stream and a fairy swamp, a big mandala-shaped vegetable garden, 3 Yurts, hand-made chalets used as working studios, and plenty of nice and quiet spots for contemplation or artistic expression, or whatever joyful and ecological activities you would enjoy!

    For the past 16 years, our on-going project has been to create a retreat/garden centre for sustaining inner, spiritual resources and creativity, and the project is unfolding nicely, with the help and inspiration of so many excellent visitors over the years.

    This summer again, we`ll have a number of different activities to attend to, both indoors and outdoors;

    Bedrooms for volunteers are individual caravans set in the meadow, with plenty of stars above your heads.
    There is an organic toilet outside and, in the barn : A kitchen, + simple, clean toilets, showers and sinks.
    In the stone main house, there is another kitchen, a dining room with a piano, a living room with Wi-Fi, and a little English-French library.

    The yurts, as well as 2 bedrooms on the upper floor of the house are rented over the summer to paying guests,
    with whom we share (happily) the bottom floor of the house (kitchen, dining and living rooms), and the barn (second kitchen and bathroom)

    We are mainly vegetarian but not totally so, and we love going on the beaches at low tides to pick edible shellfish and seaweeds.
    The nearest airport is Brest, nearest cities are Plouaret, Lannion, Guingamp and Morlaix, where we can meet you at the train stations (same towns for BlablaCar), + Ouibus (coach company) to Guingamp.
    We have bicycles available, and during summer months, there are buses going to the beaches.

    So, see you may be at a crossing of roads, for a shared time of beauty, work and joy !
    Veronique

    Help

    This summer, we`ll have a number of different activities to attend to :
    - Land clearing and strimming the over-enthusiastic vegetation, grass, branches and brumbles... with hand tools as well as mechanical tools;
    - Taking care of the organic vegetable garden : seeding, planting, weeding, mulching, picking… And creation of fine new permaculture beds;
    - Restoring the existing yurts and beginning the building of a new one (wood structure and floor)
    - Transforming the barn into an affable collective space
    - There will be (therefore!) plenty of opportunities for DIY workshops, fixing-tidying-decorating-painting-sowing...
    - Helping with the house and welcoming our guests
    - And last, but certainly not least, delicious food and bread!

    Most valuable helpers would have carpentry, electrical, masonery or sewing skills, but any other talents and all good-hearted, green-spirited, energetic and inspired volunteers are most welcome!
    We receive 2 to 6 people at a time, from Mid-April to October, for a minimum period of 14 days; volunteering hours are usually 4-5 hours a day, 5 days a week, to be organized collectively.
