WE CANNOT HOST RIGHT NOW BECAUSE WE HAVE A NEWBORN BABY, WE WILL UPDATE WHEN WE ARE READY TO HOST AGAIN

Hi! We are a family of four living on a large beautiful island of the west coast of Sweden.
The island has a lot of forests, mostly pine, and a lot of pastures for cows. On our part of the island most houses are owned by summer guests, so we are a little bit socially isolated (so you know what to expect:).
We live surrounded by forest, and there are some beautiful trails passing the house. A ten minutes walk away there is a lake where you can borrow our little row boat. 2 km away is the sea with a small leisure port and a beach.
Public transport is limited here but you can always borrow a bike if you want to go around on your own.
We are in the process of building our house, and we also live in it, so it is a bit primitive but cosy, and getting little by little more comfortable. We are Johan and Sara and a little boy of three years old called Milas and a little baby girl born in September 2022, called Agnes. Johan is a bricklayer working in his own little company, mainly restoring traditional Swedish tile stoves and other fire places, and sometimes doing other brick works like chimneys, walls etc.
He is a mix between a very practical man and an artist soul, which you will discover all through out this house of ours. He loves everything about being at home and creating things with his hands, may it be building, landscape-shaping, gardening… He also loves to just play with our boy and spend time with family and friends.
As for me, Sara, I have been home mostly the last years, and before that I worked with kids in a kindergaarden. I have been trained in biodynamic gardening and farming, and have been working in organic vegetable gardens for a few years. I love doing this, but I do feel that I have lost a lot of knowledge about gardening in a burn out I have gone through. I am a more restless soul and love to discover new places. I spent twelve years as a young adult in France. I really love to be in southern Europe, but I am also very happy to have planted my roots here in my natal country, and to live in such a calm and resourcing environment in the middle of nature. I love to cook and to take care of the harvest from the garden. I am a quite recently born again Christian and I love to discover this new life in the Spirit.
Both of us also share the two passions of spending time in the nature and traveling to other places.
In our everyday life, we try to live in a simple way, buying few things and be content with what is, in order to feel more free in the bigger choices in life.
What else? We have a dog and a cat and bees (you can join Johan for the honey harvest in september).

We signed up as hosts both to get help, and to have "the world coming to us" since we cannot move so much until the house is finished.

As mentioned it is a bit socially isolated here, we meet with our very nice neighbours and sometimes some friends or some families from our son's kindergaarden. Life is filled up with the building project and the everyday family tasks, but we manage sometimes to get ourselves above all this and just enjoy the simple things that life and nature are offering us :)

Due to our two little sunshines, nights are calm around here and we hope that you who consider coming here enjoy this calm evening-atmosphere, because otherwise you risk to be frustrated.

On the other hand, you can discover this beautiful part of Sweden. We love nature and would be happy to show you around here, both in the nature and what there is of cultural life in the area.
And of course, in helping us you could learn about building (if you already have some skills and is handy) and gardening etc.

The house that we live in is partly finished, there is a kitchen, a dining room and a livingroom where we also sleep. The toilet is in a separate building in the garden, and we have got a shower situated in the dining room ;)
There are two rooms for travelers. A small one on the top floor with a view. And another one in a separate building.

We are interested in healthy eating, and in summer we use a lot of vegetables and berries from the garden, and in automn mushrooms from the forest and apples from the garden as well. We also have our own honey from beefarming. In wintertime we buy all our food (except the bread) and it tends not to be as green ;)
